Fixed Grip Appreciation
Great knife with respectable 154CM steel, grippy rubber inserts, and a very compact sheath with MOLLE compatibility. Is this a great sleeper or what?
Sound off if you appreciate the fixed grip.

Never had a chance to check one out in person, but the few pics I've seen makes it look intriguing.0 -
Knives for shoes, please post a photo or link. I am not aware of this one.
But what about this one?

Looks nice, not to expensive, has 1095 steel (great for survival knife if you don't mind it not being stainless). I read about co-design with Becker. I don't know a lot about this aspect.
BTW, this knife here looks very similar. But not identical. I would still go with BM.

I am Still interested to see your 154 grip. My current fixed hiking blade is a Sog Seal Pup Elite in AUS8. So I am looking for something better with 6+ inch blade.0 -
I tried to snag the one off the Facebook sale, but someone else got to it before me. It looks like it would make a great field dressing knife. 0 -
I always wanted to try a fixed ritter grip myself but never got around to getting one. 0 -
The Griptilian is a great design, so I'm sure the Fixed Grip is even better.
I prefer the Nim or Nim cub though...so never tried the Fixed Grip.0 -

Actually, the closest knife in many respects to the Fixed Grip is my RSK Mk3. The RSK Mk3 started life as a modification of the Fixed Grip and eventually morphed into its own in all respects except for handle shape. Can be found on that same web site.0 -
I looked at the MK2 and MK3 today. MK2 looks sweet. MK3 would be on my medium list. With only a 4.5 inch blade I would probably just stay with a folder. 0 -
what?
Still no pics of a fixed grip?
You're all making Lightning a sad guy...

Geo-- Interestingly, I carry exactly the same knife, lots of miles on that baby and it's a good one for what it is. But now that I know more and have seen the difference a real knife can make, I need something better. As someone said, a 4.5" blade just isn't quite enough. It's basically a just big folder -- the 610 Rukus for instance would do the same job. I'm wishing BM made a slightly heavier version of the Nim with a more all-purpose grind for hunting and around camp. Guys? Suggestions? What am I missing?0 -
I think you hit it spot-on. The Nim is a fine-bladed slicer. If you want a heavier bladed fixed blade, there are a few Benchmades, but you might have to venture to some other brands like Bark River, Chris Reeve or Tops to get a wide choice.quote:Tucker wrote...I'm wishing BM made a slightly heavier version of the Nim with a more all-purpose grind for hunting and around camp. I have looked again at the Ritter MK2. Nice knife. 6" may be too long for some. There are some Becker's (very similar to the MK2) that are 5.5" and different blade shape. BTW, the MK2 looks like a serious slicer.0
