Fragile Bedlam Pocket Clip?
I've broken three since Black Friday.
Is it the weak link in an otherwise awesome knife?
I've purchased an aftermarket pocket clip.
The last thing I wanted to do was invest in an aftermarket pocket clip, but I didn't want to lose or retire my knife.

That's too bad...
I've heard a lot of guys complain about these 'terrible' clips, but never really understood why. I rather like these Bedlam clips, and the other older style deep carry clips. Pretty much any BM pocket clip can be retensioned, but I guess some are stronger than others. Doesn't sound like you've had very good luck though. Have you ever tried tensioning your clips? Just curious.0 -
First Benchmade knife with which I have had any problem at all. Such is life 0 -
Three clips since ..?
What, do you wrestle alligators for a living?
Black Friday?
"The last thing I wanted to do..."
Sounds like a poorly written ad.
Good luck w/ getting hits on your link.1 -
Ha... you could be on to something there, Patrick. 0 -
Nothing nefarious in my post, and I actually wrestle crackheads and other assorted ne'er do wells for a living.
The pocket clip is fragile. I just installed my third replacement clip from Benchmade. The Bedlam became my "duty knife," taking over for my AFO II (with a far superior pocket clip.)
...and no, spending another $26 on what is reputedly a stronger pocket clip was not something I wanted to do.1 -
Fitz, thank you for your service.
I've several suggestions
1) Don't carry a Bedlam as a duty knife. I believe there are other knives better suited for your profession. What concerns me most is the wicket looks of a Bedlam. May it never happen but if you ever had to use you duty knife & explain it in front of a review board or jury & there are less than 1/2 dozen I'd less likely want to have to justify as a "duty"
Knife. Maybe others on the Forum who have or are serving can add or disavow my suggestion
2) if your going to carry a big folder maybe a horizontal belt sheath would be a better alternative.
Thanks again & all the best in finding a solution.
If it was me I think the 810-1401 gives all the strength you need & in count the blue/ black G10 doesn't look as evil0 -
It is not the wicked look for which I bought it, but the wicked capability it has combined with the proper training.
If I have gone through my primary and secondary handguns (or they've become unavailable) and am now fighting with a knife, jury perception will be the least of my worries.1 -
One thing you might consider given that you are carrying it for work and it was originally designed for military use is calling Benchmade and asking to speak with someone who deals with military contracts. At one point they had someone with the job title of Federal Government Field Representative, maybe they still do. Ask them how the Bedlam is/was configured for carry by the Jordanian military.
I remove the pocket clips on all of my carry knives because I carry my pocket knives in my pockets, so I have no experience with the Bedlam pocket clip and did not serve in the military, but I cannot imagine that the Jordanian special forces relied on a pocket clip to hold onto their knives.
If you do call them, let us know what they say.
Best of luck.0 -
It doesn't seem that the OP is in search of a solution to the problem...seems it was found in an aftermarket clip...which was graciously shared w/ us in the form of a link...to a retailer..
Thanks for the heads up, Jimmy.2 -
Could be a marketeer.
But he has a point. Same clip as the Rukus. I've broken two of those, and bent another one all to hell.1 -

Thank you for recognizing my point. It is truly unfortunate that they do not beef up that pocket clip knowing fragile reputation.0 -

Sincere apologies if I've misread your intent.
What clip did you go with? A picture perhaps...
I carried a 615 for years... I never bent or broken one..but can attest to how flimsy it is...The retention, or lack of, was what I noticed the most.1 -
I somehow managed to delete the stock photo they sent. It's solid/without lightening cuts and titanium.
I'll be sure to post a pic when it comes in and I install it.0 -
I to carry the bedlam. And I have went through several clips. I have searched for a titanium clip unsuccessfully. Could you please share where you found it?

These are listed as 417 clips but i believe they will fit a Bedlam, same spacing
