Osborne Goodness
It was just about a year ago that I began taking an interest in folding knives. I began with what was most easily affordable and soon began to look into higher quality pieces.
My troubles REALLY began when I found a Mini-Barrage (with the box, papers and everything) at a yard sale, priced at $20USD. I actually got the guy down to $10 (believe it or not). That was the beginning of the end for me. I soon bought my first NIB Benchmade - a Mini Griptillian plain edge (a knife I consider my first NEW Benchmade).
After several more purchases and swaps (with highly esteemed Benchmade aficionados such as can be found here) I have come to two conclusions -
#1 - You guys are the Borg (reference Star Trek) and resisting assimilation is futile;
#2 - I am a fan of Warren Osborne designs. My first Osborne was an Apparition SBK with Cerakote and since then I have picked up an 810SBK, a customized 950 (from loonybin) and just now a 950SBK with the layered scales. Next will need to be 940 of some kind (or SEVERAL kinds as there appears to be many different derivations of this beautiful piece) and other 950's.
I would love to get my hands on an Orange/Black scaled Rift, but they appear to be hard to come by.
At any rate, count me as a true Osborne goodness fan and I sincerely appreciate all the good stuff I am learning from the members here. I know I am a low-count poster yet, but I do a lot of reading and hope I will be able to contribute more as I learn more....

It's kind of a funny thing, cuz I don't think of myself as an Osborne guy, primarily because the 940 never appealed to me, and my Contego and Rift I love in a kinda red-headed step-child kinda way - just never quite fully warmed up to the Osborne reverse tanto thing... But when I look at the Benchmade models in my regular rotation, my two favorites are the Griptilians and Barrages:
551 Griptilia - many, various(7)
580/1 - many, various(4)
585/6 - many, various(3)
810(1)
806-1101
531 - many, various(4)
950-1201
943BK
525-1101
275
I think that is ten Osborne design knives, twelve Pardues, and one Sibert. So clearly, I'm a huge Osborne fan.

Osborne seems to be my favorite also... 0 -
I, too, dig his designs, it all started with the 770 series, I don't have a 940 yet, but someday...... 0 -

I have so many 94x I love that I rarely carry..but I do carry the 810's and 950's I have often. I was only able to get one 770 so it makes me want a "mini" 940 the same size as the 770. 0 -
+1 on wanting a 3/4 sized 940. I spoke with Mr. Osborne at a NYC knife show ( in NYC not NJ) years ago as he had a custom knives in both sizes on his table. He was all for it! He said it was Benchmade's call.
Maybe we should have a letter writing campaign
