    Sometimes it's necessary because of poor workmanship, which was the case with my new north fork.
    I had to take it apart and polish all the bearing surfaces to make it right, they were very rough.

    On the other hand, my 810 contego was perfect, right out of the box.

    lol, I see your point there. I think it is more like 70% than 90. I counted 8 surface I have polished. After this treatment, I don't have to oil pivot for few years even EDC-ing in the field.

    Smoothness is outstanding. Perhaps it shows more difference in capsuled liner smaller knife.
