Iirc when things like this happen they will have an unnumbered blade in the same steel. But I would just give Benchmade a call in the am and verify with them. Also carry a cheaper loaner knife on you to avian situations like this

    Dam that Sucks,

I think Timmy has given you the right advice, call Benchmade in the morning and they can tell you what a Blade Change will cost.

If I remember it's $25.00 for plain and $35.00 for coated, I do know that they will match the steel of the blade BUT won't do the numbering.

There might be an issue with a limited edition's steel if they don't have that steel in a general production knife, but as Timmy said just call them and they will do everything they can to help you..

if it's only 1mm, they may be able to just sharpen it with a more acute angle upwards on the belly, to form a new tip... might be an option. hope that helps.

+1 That would be $5 instead of $35 and if they couldn't do it THEN they would be able to hand it off to the blade replacement folks.

    Cool. Thanks guys.

I just contacted them and said to send it in. That missing 1mm is not a prob, the LifeSharp service will take care of that.

    These guys are Fn awesome.

You should always advise your "bud" how much the knife costs before loaning it him. Most people figure your knife was $10 or $20 and you don't care if it gets chipped or not.

I carry a second knife and if I must give someone a knife, they get the cheaper one.

That was my first thought too.

That way you get to retain the original blade with the markings, and still have a great working knife.

Plus, I imagine that since this is a user, you'll never really miss the little bit 'off the top' - or rather, tip in this case.

Cool, first case of a bird using a Benchmade that I have heard of. Sounds like one for the record books...

I agrew with what the others have said about getting it sharpened to reshape the point if possible. I have had a bunch of 890s and none of them have ever had much for pointy tips anyway. Nice user by the way

it's a great knife. Feels good in the hand and seems very balanced. Just too cool to have as a safe queen.

Yeah, my bud was unusually butterfingers yesterday. He felt really bad and apologized a bunch. He felt really bad. I didn't and won't blame him.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Hi Ekwan, I had a blade that wouldn't center and they not only replaced the blade with another m390, but also redid the LE xxx/250 that was on the original blade! How's that for customer service!

Dang.. That is pretty cool. I hope they don't have to, but it really doesn't matter too much if they did.
I'm thinking this is a perfect time to add some engraving/etching to the blade
