I have the Nonconformist. The handle of the AFO 2 is smoother in hand. 0 -
I don't currently own an AFO2, but did for a while. The AFO was harder for me to maintain a good grip; the MP5 has beveled ridges in the aluminum handle and it makes it fit my hand very well and secure. So far as auto action works, They're fairly equal.
I prefer the MP5 mostly for the handle shape and clip location (not much of the knife sticks out really).0 -
What is the "Nonconformist"? I have both the HK MP5 and AFO II, and give the slight edge to the MP5, mainly because of the way that the handle fits my hand, it just feels good and fits well. The MP5 has 440C blade steel vs the 154CM of the AFO, so the AFO maybe has better blade steel, although both are about the same hardness. Both are awesome autos!
Edit:
After double-checking the specs, I realized that both the AFO II and HK MP5 have 154CM for the blade steel. I confused the HK MP5 with the HK Entourage, and it's the Entourage that has 440C for the blade.0 -
Nonconformist is the HarleyDavidson model of the MP5 which is the HK version of the 6150 except with solid aluminum handle and lesser steel (the 6150 had G10/Micarta handle and S30V steel). 0 -

Yep. The MP5/NonCon also is a push button auto vs the Axis auto on the 6150.
Found it for $135 at some Shoppe that sells cutlery..good price, may just have to cave.0 -
Now that we can own and carry autos here, I need to look at that MP5 again. How easy is it to use the button lock with the left hand? 0 -
The slide lock on the back of the knife is as easy to use with the index finger of left hand as it is with the right hand. The push-button to open the knife is made for right hand thumb activation, but works very well using the left index finger while still keeping a good grip on the knife, very easy.
Although right-handed, I practice with my left hand with knives and guns, so I can be ready should the need arise. The MP5 grip is perfectly comfortable using it left-handed or right-handed, and the pocket clip is reversible for left or right carry, tip up only.0 -
