What file type to send for lasermarking?
Do y'all need a vector image, or will a JPEG/PNG/GIF work OK? I'm trying to get permission from a web site to use their rendition of my family's Scottish crest because it's a really clean b/w image. If I can't get that permission, would you be able to take a non-copyrighted [i]color[/img] image, convert to b/w and use that?

All the ones you have listed will work. I took a picture of the knife then taped the logo exactly where I wanted it and thats what I got. keep in mind that you will only get black and white. 0 -

I hadn't thought of doing that. Thanks for the tip!quote:keep in mind that you will only get black and white.
I'm aware of that, and the image I'm trying to get permission to use is a nice clean b/w image. I just hope that if I can't get permission for it, that the lasermarking department can take the above non-copyrighted image and use it to make the kind of clean b/w image needed for their machine.0 -
Vector images work best as I can clean them up and size them easily without any loss of quality, but we will be able to work with just about any image. 0 -

Yeah, I couldn't find any good vector images of my clan crest, and the raster-to-vector program I have didn't do a good job.
Would the above image work for conversion if I can't get the b/w image?0 -

I found this image in my list of crests 0 -
I can't believe I missed your post, Ryan. That is great! It may change where I want the crest since the sword sticking above it will change things slightly, but that's what I'm looking for. 0
