Web examples of laser etching
The web tool for customizing a griptilian is awesome (and convinced me to buy that route instead of (web) retail) but as I'm sure you've heard, it lacks some sort of visual indicator of what the various positioning/fonts look like.
I recently ordered some custom keycaps for my keyboard and was disappointed to find that the font was too small, and I ended up not using them (since after all I got them for the appearance) So, wasted purchase.
Here I can see what the choice of blade, handle and clip will look like, but not what the most customizable feature will look like. I realize this might be too much for the web app to do dynamically (but that would be soooo cool) but even some jpg's of each font, and the positioning options would make the choice a lot easier.

We are currently working on something like it. It will have a sample blade up on the page (probably a 551 drop point) and will allow you to pick between 3 positions as to where you want your image located. It will also have an online image library and the sorts. Stay tuned...0 -
Thanks for the reply Katie. Is there a projected window for this? I'm struggling not to order right now as it is. Benchmade is a great company with a lot of resources. I gotta think there is a talented Photoshop professional on board that could knock some digital mockups out in an afternoon. Given the (presumed) ease and usefulness, and thereby assumed customer demand for such images, I'm surprised they haven't been created already.
Tell you what, if it would help you guys out, you could send a Griptilian with my name in each of the font options and positions and I would be happy to do up a jpg gallery of them that you could use.
Absent that, I wait, rendered indecisive by the fear of discovering that my Perfect Knife (seriously, a laser etched black sheepsfoot Griptilian, with a round thumb hole and dual colored grips?!?) is instead permanently imperfect because my surname would have looked better in 12px Bradley Hand ITC on the right instead of the 10px Tahoma centered that I defaulted to.
Surely you can see the torment of such a predicament.0 -
Very good little bit here Adam! I've thought the same, though gambled in the past and have been happy in the end. It would make things much simpler. 0 -
You are more than welcome to email us and we will create a mockup for you. Just let us know what model, text and/or logo, and rough placement and we will get it put together for you.

Definitely impressive customer service and I appreciate it.
Like I said in my email to you and Katie, that's a lot of effort for a single customer, more than I would need, especially if I don't like the first one or two examples, (or third, or...) I would feel like I was wasting people's time needlessly. I would be happy just having some indication on when the generic examples Katie spoke of might be available.
But now I realize that I owe you guys an apology. It appears that the overzealous spam filter in my email system intercepted the responses you guys sent to the email I sent Katie and the two I sent to you. Dang thing seems to be completely misconfigured as it appears to have even deleted them from the spam folder where it normally segregates errant emails.
I am so sorry. I can only imagine what you must think having it appear that I so rudely disregarded your considerate answers without response. Please believe me, I wasn't purposefully disregarding them, yet I acknowledge that it does appear that I have been unconscionably rude. As penance, I will not rest until I have corrected the misconfiguration in my rogue spam filter.
In the interim, I'll rely on the more reliable public forums where responses are never inadvertently disregarded.
Is there an expected estimate of when generic examples of the font and positioning might be available?0 -
Ah yes, as I thought.
Unfortunate, but thank you anyway.
