Here's a stupid question: CF is winning and blue is winning, but I've never seen CF other than black. I never thought to wonder until now, is black a property of carbon fiber, or can it be produced in other colors?

I assumed the color was for the spacers.

Sorry, I don't actually have an answer to your question.

I know there are colored "Twills" ..not sure if they are true CF..

Keyman or DOAT would have a more educated, definitive answer..

I've several customs with blue lightening strikes. We all seen the sliver & BKC did CF with red Strikes. I got the gold class 940 with sliver twill & DOAT & Keyman have both used blue twill on custom handles, there also red & a yellow/ gold color. Most recently we've seen CF with copper chunks & there are CF with other material imbedded.

I like both CF with blue lighting strikes & blue twill ( never can have too much)

The resin can be dyed... I'll refer you to the 908-161.

That blue CF on the 908-151 was pretty nice. I love that one.
Something similar to that would get me...

That blue CF would be awesome on a 484 (not that the 484 looks to be the choice, based on the poll results).

    Thanks for the information, everyone.

Personally a bit disappointed at the survey. The Nakamura doesn't fit my hand at all, and I'm just not a fan of the Barrage (or assisted knives of any sort, for that matter).
But I voted Barrage, because if the configurations are to my liking, I MIGHT buy one.
For what it's worth, I like Micarta, M390, Stonewash (Ritter style).
I was really hoping to see something cool using the Foray.

    At any rate, I'm watching....

I'm wondering how many people chose all the same options of a 484-1 or perhaps a 484-1 with a 484 blade. Its definitely happened.

484 with red micarta was my choice.

My results here didn't match my survey. LOL LOL
Wish this was not the year of the mini.
So many nice models already exist with these 2 choices.... Argh............
Any icon would fly. 710, 940, or newer model that has yet to have been soup ed up. Like last years 810. That was a master piece.... Do that treatment to a Crooked River and this thread would explode.....
    But what do I know.............

+1 agreed I'd rather have a CR or Bedlam built like last year's 810-1602 than either choice offered. And I initially though we should go small this year. Maybe the reason for the choice given is BKC doesn't want their phones blowing up again.

MCM, do you have any info on the rumored 943-1?

People keep telling me that 20cv and m390 are nearly identical, yet they are both options.

Can someone explain the difference and why to choose one over the other?

20CV is a bit better on edge retention, but not as strong/tough.

Finishes are a bit different as well. M390 has a bit more "tone" to the metal after polishing, if that makes any sense. Almost like a goldish hue, sorta.

A little knife or a mini? Not thrilled about the choices but good job BM on agreeing to go through the process again. That's cool.

    Bill,

Did you really say Bedlam? Are you catching the fever? This is what happens when you hang around with sre1, Marty, TB, Po, me and other feverites.

/|\ You & your gang are relentless ! Simply saying a "silver class"Bedlam a whole lot more appealing & may carry it around the house. At very least it would be an outstanding knife to own.

Haha the board is split on the choices. How about we just can the poll and go with something everyone will like: 710 in carbon fiber!

I just thought it would be neat to see how people are voting in the survey. That's why the options are limited to what's listed. I did add a couple additional handle materials but realistically the knife will be made of some of the materials that they put in the survey. If anything else was a real option it would have been listed in their survey too.

For those of us who would carry this knife, many live in areas with restrictions on blade length. While California has no restriction, LA county has a 3" restriction. That's why I carry the 586 mini Barrage @ 2.91". The 484 Nakamura is 3.08", which is illegal to carry in LA. You might get the cop who uses the "hand method", or you might get the one who looks up the specs, in which case you're going to jail. Happened to me, and one other guy in "the tank" that night. We're still lucky, as other areas have a 2.5" restriction, or even a 6cm restriction (2.362").

Smaller blades are legal in far more places. Don't get me wrong - I have plenty of knives over 3" (and even, ahem, automatics) in my collection, but I dare not carry them (again). Once busted, twice shy.

At this time in the poll, we're an even draw between the 586 & 484.

With the other options being 484, carbon fiber, blue, YOU HAVE A FREAKIN' 484-1 PEOPLE! That just ain't gonna happen for a forum knife. Just sayin'...

    That's what I'm saying...
And I think it's crazy that the 484 is getting all these votes, yet nobody will buy dj's 484-1. Poor guy... Show dj some love guys. Someone buy that knife from him!

I love watching this tracker!!! It's not representative of how the voting went on the formal survey but it's still super cool to see what other options you guys would be into.

For guys in LA, file the blade tip down.
