For anything with a recurve blade I only use the edges of the spyderco stones. If you use the "flats" you will eventually sharpen the belly out of the blade. Good luck. It's pretty easy. 0 -
thanks Crazyhorse,
I recall that with my last 710. (lost a year ago)
what angle do you think its best?
40 or 30?0 -

+1
DO NOT use the flats
Your recurve will gradually disappear, and you will sharpen the belly and it will all be uneven.
Just use the edges and follow the steps, it will work out fine.0 -

I always start with 40 and then move to 30 for the final touches.0 -
If you do only use the edges, be careful not to let the tip if the blade jump off of the stones. Otherwise you will keep running the tip against the flat edges and you will eventually blunt the tip of the knife.

I keep mine at 40
Ive never tried the 30 for touch ups0 -
most of the time i have tried to use 30 on a factory edge i end up only hitting the shoulder. For the most part i now use only the 40 setting on a factory edge.
I do have a few knives that i have taken all the way down to 30, but i still finish with a 40 micro bevel.

Thanks to all. I resharpen the knife very easily at 40. Edge it's sick right now.
I taught will be tougher to sharpen M390 but it was really easy. I'm surprise
