860/8600 Bedlam

I went into a little uniform shop today and saw they are an official Benchmade dealer. They didn't have a lot of models on display but they did have an 8600sbk. All I can say is, Wow! That's a knife.

It's just a beauty to hold in a variety of grips, and I have to admit, it is a fun knife.

On the down side, the blade shape is a little weird for my taste. Plus the handle is long and a little thick, so it's like putting a flashlight in your pocket.

I know lightning and archer have Bedlams. Anybody else? What do you guys think? My final impression is it may not be the most practical knife but it sure is fun.

The Bedlam is one of Benchmade's extraordinary custom grade models.

My Benchmade collecting dementia has progressed to the point where I like to have some knives just because of the coolness or awesomeness factor, whether it is a brilliant user or not. And I've been thinking I should have a Bedlam just for its awesome coolness.

If you get one, I'm gonna have to get one.

I had one for a while. Very cool knife, for sure. That big, heavy blade swinging open was pleasing. I sold it, though. Too heavy, too big.

But lately I've been wanting to get another!!!
The huge scimitar blade is just so friggin' cool.

Po, put it this way: although I am still on the fence, imo, the awesomeness of this knife outweighs the impracticalities.

I never had a full size Rukus so I can't compare it to the Bedlam. But the Bedlam handle is larger than that of a mini-Rukus...and the Bedlam feels better in the hand too. Think of a longer 615 with rounded edges and the same textured G10 that was on the Camp Perry Grip.

You know, if we get archer and lightning in here posting pics, we are cooked.

I've had a couple. It's one of those knives I really want and then when I get it, it just isn't something I would ever carry or use so I end up selling it. Then I keep remembering how neat it was and think about getting another.

I just could never see carrying anything like that, though..

I will say, though. If you are going through showing off your knives to someone, you'll get the most comments off that Bedlam

Congrats TB, I got three and one is in my EDC rotation, why? I don't need a reason, I just like it and it can do anything any otner knife can do and when it comes to slicing, just as good and better.

It feels great in the hand, the blade geometry keeps the blade sharp longer than any of the other super steels, yeah I know what I'm talking about because I'm the one that's sharpening them, the 154CM really shines out on this knife.

It's a man's knife with no excuses or apologies, they are discontinued so get "em while you can.

I proudly carry mine and apologize to no one.

I just got my 806 out as a show of solidarity and I will be carrying it this weekend, even to my mother inlaws's on Saturady

If you put it at a slight angle in your front pocket somebody might get the impression you are really excited to see them

Sure I'll put up some pics, no Bedlam shyness here, ever heard of "Bedlamsturbation"? A lot more people secretly do it than are willing to admit.

I have an 8600 PE first production. It is pretty much a safe queen, but too damn nice to get rid of. I don't like how it carries in the pocket, I need to get a sheath for it.

I almost got one but instead I got a 275. I am not sure if I regret my decision or not. I love the blade shape and size of the 860. I just got a better deal on the 275. I think I have the opposite thinking of everyone on this forum. If a knife is under 3 inches I refuse to EDC it. I like the people I run into that I arrested to know I have at least a big knife on me.

I have had a couple over the years. It is a fine knife, however with the exclusion of the Cold Steel Talwar I have sold off every Persian styled blade I have owned from various manufacturers. Nice knife just not something I could hold onto too long.

I will say it gets the award for knife with the largest box. Thing is huge, you think you bought a fixed blade.

Now, how can I resist that???

And yes, as mentioned it is not nearly the most practical knife I own, but damned fun and cool it is.
