Need info on a Mini Reflex Auto Red limited edition

I just traded for this knife and would like to know if anyone here knows anything about this. It is a 2550 Mini Reflex but is red and appears to have been one of only 25 made. It is dated Dec. 2001 on the blade. I didn't know that Benchmade did "sprint runs" so I am curious about the history of this knife. Could this have been a "forum knife"? Does anyone know? Thanks!

There were at least 4-5 different colors of that knife all made in runs of 25. It definitely wasn't a forum knife.
They did runs of the 3200 in much the same way.

Back before internet sales there were not many dealers around the country that sold autos.
Nearly all the Limited Edition autos from that era are short runs of 25.

There have only been two Forum Knives. Neither were Autos.

I'll just expand a little bit on that last comment.

There were 2 Benchmade Forum knives, but there have been at least 2 other forums that had a run made for them. The USN had a run of 630's made for them with the logo etched into the blade and 'toxic green' dimples.
Bladeforums also had a run of 100 35SPL Balisongs made for them MANY years ago.

That is a non-production prototype. It was a trial attempt to do the Real Tree camo pattern with anodizing. You'll notice it's an early ATS-34 blade. Here is the other side.

That was Carsons knife. He sold it on Facebook then it got passed around a few times.
