1000S Pewter
I just acquired a 1000S Pewter and would like to know the history of this knife. It's in mint condition and I can't really find any information. Thanks.

The 1000 Auto Spike was built from 1992 until 1996/1997. Based upon a Phil Boguszewski design who designed the manual version.
The steel is G-2, the handle from 6061-T6 Aluminium.
The Auto Spike was made with different colour handles as Limited Editions. The standard version had black handles.
Hope that helps.0 -
Thanks Amethyst. I know it pre-dates the move to Oregon City and I've read, but can't confirm, that the clipless version was early on. Pewter as a Limited Edition is interesting. 0 -
Todd here is a resource for you of old catalogs.
Benchmade Catalogs
Pewter was a cataloged option along with black, blue, red, purple, and clear anodized. Being cataloged technically makes them "variations" rather than Limited Editions. Nevertheless, some variations will always be rarer, just based on production and order volume.
Clips could be added for a 20.00 fee.

That is a very nice score you have there!0 -
Scott Thank you so much! Looks like it was only in the 95-96 Mil/LE catalog. What a cool reference too. Again, thank you so much. 0 -
