Benchmade 710.....My views
Hello my Benchmade friends. I recently bought a Benchmade 710. And made a pathetic attempt for an unboxing video. Anyways the knife is great D2 blade, slicey recurve belly, sharp as hell and light weight. I got his knife 2 weeks ago, came is a new Benchmade box. The knife size is pretty handful. When flipped open the length of the blade is adequate for all types of jobs. The blade steel is well known D2 steel which has reputation to take sharp edge and hold it for very long. The slicing ability of mild recurve belly is way outstanding. The high grind gives a very steep angle of 17 degree each side which is good for everyday cutting. The knife can also act as formidable self defence tool in extreme cases. Only downside I see is handle material which is G10 and seems slippery though finger grooves and rough patterns are made on it. If a thin layer of rubber is put on handle then it may be outstanding knife out there. This knife has won Knife of the year award perhaps in 1998, so basically a awesome trusted tool. The knife is moderately priced. Here is unboxing video. Unboxing video Photos BM710D2

Excellent choice. I also bought a 710 recently and am very impressed by it. This was my first Axis folder and I figured I'd go with the one that started it all. I have many other Benchmades but they are autos and assisted. Now it's time to save up for an 808! 0 -
I recently purchased a 710, and I am fairly pleased. I do agree the blade is on point for most tasks, and as a folder it is a great EDC. I like the G10 scales; I like the weight factor as well as the texturing. Opening this knife is comfortable; my fingers fit on top of the clip and do not obstruct the opening action. The D2 steel, while very decent, does hold an edge, but I do worry about the corrosion resistance and would prefer 154 only because of the sharpening time involved; with 154 I can speedily, in a pinch, use the bottom of a ceramic mug or even a few quick swipes on a strop. I like the length and blade shape--I can accomplish a solid 90% of the activities I use a knife for, from boning to field dressing to camp cook activities. My one bitch--the thumb studs are too close to the scales and flush with them as well. It takes some time getting used to them. I honestly love the knife as an EDC and have stopped circulating my 9051 and 530, although I do compliment it with a Lil' Canadian from Bark River. And I still do not understand some people's preference for the 940 over the 710. A member told me the 940 did not obstruct his hand when he pulled it out of his pocket. I find the 710 to feel non-existent when I perform the same act. Another member mentioned the feel of the knife in hand. Again, it is a personal preference, I guess, because the 710 feels great in my hand. I like the knife so much I may purchase a second to just keep on hand. 0
