I just caught it when you adjusted the post...LOL

I personally wouldn't be breaking up the 585-1 Limited Edition, but that is entirely up to you Tony off course as it's your knife..
    Wink

I am just lucky that I have also have a 585 PE First Production with two sets of scales the Valox and a set of Warn G-10 sitting in the safe...

The only reason I kept this one (that last of 3) was in hopes that I would get all black liners with a better steel. I would have perfered something else but oh well, i'll just keep the D2 on there until the next swap
    Wink

The 585-1001 is the safe queen

Yep I can understand that rational completely, I just can't stand the Valox Scales (call it a pet peeve).

But there are those that love there lightness also, so each to their own I suspect...LOL

The black liners would look great with the added advantage of G-10 Scales, there is no doubt of that...

The one I mentioned that I have is set up with Silver Screws all around and Silver Split Arrow Clip, so it really makes the silver liners POP..!!!

It’s just been sitting in the Gun Safe with some others and is not in my Vault as I just don’t see it as a collectable, who knows it takes me forever to figure out what is going to be an EDC…ROLMAO

D2...Gah! I blow so much money to get the best available steels and best LE handle parts...
    Mad

    Still...D2, black liners, cool...

I wouldn't care for the orange scales, I don't think...swap the black G-10 LE scales on there. Sweet.

Don't knock the Valox scales on the 585 unless you try them. I have a hard time telling them from the G-10 LE scales with my eyes closed.

Not a bad price for D2. I am on the fence with the orange. Still wouldn't mind better scales either.

On the 585, the valox isn't too bad, although g10 would be much better. Valox on the 580 just didn't work for me. I could easily get one of these orange mini-Barrages for the D2 blade. The Valox can most likely be dyed black with RIT dye.

    Po,

I actually have an NIB 585 First Production with both the original Valox and a set of G-10 Warn Scales on it just sitting in the safe and give me those G-10 Scales any day of the week...

The orange scales I suspect are OK, it is Cabela's they are an Out Doors Store and its probably good for people that hunt being able to find their knife easily if they drop them..

I have a feeling that is exactly why. If i get an Adamas, I'll get some orange or toxic green scales made for it for the exact same reason. heck, I'm planning on a toxic green anodizing job for my 525bk-1101 next spring so it will be easier to see.

I know that is people's preference by far, mine too. But honestly, just reaching into the knife drawer with my eyes closed, it is very hard to tell the difference between my LE 583 with G-10 scales, and my 581BK/580 hybrid with Valox scales. I have to hold them side by side to tell them apart - the valox handle is a little lighter - or open them to listen to the sound. Even looking at them in low light, it is hard to tell them apart.

You sure can tell the difference with the "Warn" G-10 Scales on the 585 knife...LOL

I have the mini Warn scales on my 585BK, and some 585 LE G-10 scales on my Mini Warn. Don't ask me why. I just like it that way.

I never ask anyone why they like anything, it's all a matter of personal taste...

I think the Warm "G-10" are a much better design and feel myself personally, but then that just my opinion..
