Fake 10750 Vex?
Hello all. This is my first posting on the forums and sorry to say it's not for a positive reason. I own numerous BM's and the discontinued red box Vex actually became a favorite in my EDC lineup. I own two of them, purchased just before they were discontinued and became hard to find knives.
I'm always on the look-out for Vexs' when they come up on ebay or where ever but usually the seller wants more than I'm willing to pay for one. I recently came upon an ebay auction for said knife from a seller in CA and bought two from him.
Vex Auction
After the knives arrived I noticed some distinct differences between them and the previous Vexs' I'd purchased a few years ago. Most notably the blade grind is quite different; having a lower hollow grind as opposed to the high hollow grind of the originals. Overall the quality is superb. The scales are indistinguishable from the original's the size and weight feel the same and the markings are crisp and proper; but other small details differ from the original's such as: the blade finish color is darker, the pocket clip is slightly different, the pivot pin head is smaller, the lanyard hole seems slightly smaller, and the screws feature star heads rather than the original's hex style.
When I saw the auction on ebay I didn't notice these things in the pictures but only after comparing them to my older Vex. They came in legit-looking Benchmade boxes but lacked a UPC label and no User Care Manual inside.
Below are photos of the two knives. Top Knife is original knife purchased in 2010, Bottom Knife is the newly purchased from ebay.
I'm no noob when it comes to knives and my collection is considerable and includes some fairly sought-after and expensive makes and models. Have I been stung with a fake or are these real Benchmade 10750 Vexs' that are later manufacture runs with model-line changes?

Well, looks like I've found the answer to my own question... definitely FAKE! Did some more web searching and found that this exact knife is being sold directly out of China, and, for a LOT less than I paid for it, so I got STUNG bad indeed!
Here's the same seller on ebay that got me. He's obviously getting these fakes on the cheap and reselling them for profit on ebay to rubes like me.

Ummm... yes ,actually, I did. Is this post in violaton of the TOS in some manner of which I am unaware?0 -
Yes from the perspective of how the TOS applies to posting that link. Please edit your post to remove the reference to the Chinese site, thanks. 0 -
Maybe one is a fake but they were both made in China.
Welcome to the forum, no hard feelings ok.0 -

How long ago did you buy them? Perhaps you can return it (item not as described -- it's not really a Vex as advertised), get a refund (dispute it with eBay and PayPal as they helped facilitate copyright infringement), then report him for copyright infringement and let Jason know. 0 -
That is a problem with outsourcing your "lower" end models to china, your company might have discontinued the model but the manufacturer decided they would still make them. I am sad that the only way my nephew will learn about great American manufacturing will be in history books. Please shop local this holiday, and try to stay out of the big boxes. 0
