Mini AFCK Question
I have a BM 812 I have carried daily since 1994. The small screws have fallen out and been replaced so many time one of the holes has stripped out. I have recently purchased a replacement 812 from a forum member and I am excited to have a new knife again, but I can't give up hope on the old one. My question is, could I purchase an 812 trainer (there is one for sale on the forum currently) and simply change the training blade, with the one in my old 812?
Is it possible Benchmade still has parts available and I could send it in for a rework?
Thanks
Bill

Welcome to the Forum Bill. I would give them a call at 800-800-7427 and ask about repairing your old friend. They do work miracles. Let us know how it turns out~! 0 -
1 or 2 years ago BM. came out with a Gold class 812 I'll bet they can fix it like new. 0 -
I sure wish Benchmade would come out with a Blue Class 812 Mini-AFCK.quote:Originally posted by Big Old Boy:

I have heard that BM has drilled the handles for the threaded insert. Might be possible.
Yes, the 814T handles would work.
I have a set of factory 812 scales if you are interested. Make me a decent offer.0 -
Thank you for all the information.
I will place a call to Benchmade tomorrow, and see what they say.
d_clark, I will send you an email about your factory 812 scales.
Thanks again, for all your help.

Bill, sorry this is late. Early models has the screws thread directly into the G10. Benchmade would add the nuts to stop the problems you have encountered.
As to your question about the red trainer scales...

...it works like a champ. These pix show the nuts in greater contrast than the black G10 allows.
BTW, welcome to the forum.0 -

But then there is the Gold Class 812. Those are pretty nice too. 0 -
Mini's are always welcome in my collection. The following oldie went to BKC for servicing; as an example of what they'll do, they went to drill out old worn scales for threaded inserts and decided they had a pair of new G-10 scales in a box somewhere. The following pic shows the old knife with brand new scales:
The don't have the medallions any more so couldn't replace them, but the result was a newly sharpened blade and a free set of scales for the $5 shipping costs. And these were the last scales in their inventory.
Point is; it never hurts to ask!

Cool, a game I can play too

Nothing too wild, just my oval hole 814 with anodized blue Ti Liners...

Hi Neruo. Great looking 812. I know where the ti-liners and blade are from but did you make your own clip? 0
