Warren Osborne

Our thoughts and prayers to the Osborne family for their great loss yesterday.
“The DeAsis family and our entire Benchmade team are extremely proud of our long standing friendship and collaboration over the years with Mr. Warren Osborne, one of the World’s finest craftsman and classic custom knife makers.
Warren resolutely held himself and his work to the highest standard of quality, innovation and design thereby increasing and reinforcing Benchmade’s commitment to excellence as a respected collaborator with our design, engineering, manufacturing and marketing teams.
Warren’s work ethic was incredible, as was his working knowledge of firearms and ballistics and precision long-range bench rest shooting. He greatly enjoyed his annual pursuits of salmon and halibut in Alaska, prairie dogs in neighboring states, and seasonal hunting. Warren not only made knives, but used and relied on them.
I will certainly miss my long talks with Warren during various knife shows, our early summer prairie dogging trips together, and his excitement whenever he came out to visit the Benchmade factory and interact with our team.
Warren Osborne set very high standards for himself and in our work together and I am proud that they have become ingrained in Benchmade’s DNA.
Warren’s fierce commitment to high value ethics, quality, hand craftsmanship, mechanical design, originality and artistic expression coupled with his work ethic branded him truly as a self-made man!
Warren, you’ll be greatly missed.”

Very sad news.
Warren was an amazing craftsmen and brilliant designer.
I will always remember talking to him about knives and guns and shows.0 -
He was a brilliant designer.. Some of the best BM designs came from his collaborations
BKC, you should consider a memorial edition 9400 -
My sincerest condolences to the Osborne Family.
Always enjoyed talking with Warren at the NYC Knife Shows.
His knife designs will continue bring happiness to many of us for years to come.
A good man who will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Good choice. I would be up for one of those knives.0 -
Great idea. I would be up too. 0 -
Yes honoring Warren contributions as knife maker & association with Benchmade should be done in Zoe manner. But as Warren was the creator of the America tanto blade, I'd suggest ant commemorative knife or set of knives use that blade. 0 -
940 was the first 'real' knife I bought......I now have 5 94x.......along with almost every Osborn collab. Excellent designer!
Memorial knife???? A super sick 941 PLEASE!!!0 -
Joe,I really want to see a 943-1 too but
As Warren is known as designer of the American Tanto ( or reverse tanto), a commerative knife by Benchmade should use the reverse tanto.
I wouldn't used an Arkansas toothpick as a tribute to Jim Bowie or a liner locker when celebrating William-Henry's contributions to the advancement in folder construction (the axis lock)
Regards, Bill0 -

Well pointed out, Bill. I too am in for more of Osborne Tanto (Modified reverse American Tanto..) than 943. 943 to me looks like mini-710.0 -
I just heard about this yesterday and was shocked. Hopefully we'll see a commemorative piece released to honor him. 0 -
Hmmmmm, it may be that elusive G10 940 with green spacer?

It certainly is my tribute to Warren.
