    Hi Jedi,

We first and foremost apologize for the wait. We pride ourselves in the highest quality standards at Benchmade and while the 87 was introduced to the market in January, it's now clearing our QC spec in time for active market release.

We certainly want to circumvent any inconveniences to our customers and ensure that the product delivered is of the utmost quality giving them the proper Benchmade experience. We thank you again for your patients.

I didn't give you any of my patients.

I can however give you some patience IF YOU GIVE US A TIME FRAME OF WHEN THESE WILL SHIP!

My opinion is that Benchmade is being unprofessional by keeping loyal customers in the dark and constantly changing the release date.

And apparently they still cannot give us an ETA after a half of a year.

    Definitely taking customers for granted.

/|\ Maybe a boycott of the 87 would be justified? You can lead the boycott, I would but decided when it was first announced the 87 wasn't for me so I wouldn't be sacrificing anything. You however have the passion to lead others on this just cause.
    Wink

Seriously, you will be able to buy one when it comes out whereas I need to move to a different state to carry a balisong again. Hopefully shortly after I move there will be one with the Wee-hawk blade.

Sorry, but that is nonsense. There is a reply from Benchmade PR in this very thread. Benchmade has apparently said August, so there is nothing to complain about until at least September. Even if Benchmade were to delay the 87 beyond September, it would only be for a damn good reason, not just for the fun of disappointing their customers.

So let's all ACT like grownups.

Disappointed in the delayed release, however, I'm not boycotting, BM is a great company that has earned my trust and respect. I don't see this as even close to a reason for boycotting

    Hey Favorite Forumites,

The 87 is the most important thing at the factory right now, promise. We are doing everything in our power to get it to you ASAP. It is clearly QC now (because we have heard you & want to have the best QC in the industry!).
We are targeting an active market release at Blade Show. This includes starting to ship out all the order that have been placed directly with us and through dealers since the 87 was released.

Thank you for your the patience, we are working to deliver you the best product the first time.

Did anyone else receive their 87 without a sheath? I called knifeworks, where I bought it, and they told me it wasn't supposed to come with one.

It is supposed to have a sheath according to page 10 of the Benchmade catalog. I am also pretty sure that the ones at Blade had sheaths.

Thanks for the Intel chip. I'm guessing someone at knifeworks opened the box and handled the knife and forgot to put the sheath back in. The knife was just sitting on top the baggie when I opened it and the titanium handles had some minor snail trails near the latch.

I would have preferred to buy from Benchmade directly because I had a 30% discount coupon but it's expired now.

It should have a sheath. Email/call CS and we'll straighten you out.

I'm pretty sure mine was opened and played with also. The tape was off the box and my knife had a number of hairs that were on the blade and pivot! I'm hoping they were forearm hairs!

In my past experiences when someone's offered to straighten me out it's usually followed with punches.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to use a blade like that anywhere near their southern region. Lol.

I'm Not sure why some dealers feel the need to use a knife that is supposed to be sold as new in box. I'm sure it's common practice but it doesn't help with customer loyalty.

Did you get the Scabbard situation figured out?

I am sure it didn't leave Benchmade without it...

I got mine but am waiting for my regular production one to really get in and play with one. I intend to EDC the big *******!

    BMF. Lol.

Yeah, I doubt it left the factory that way. Benchmade is sending me one thankfully. I'm not to happy with knifeworks though, for just shutting me down about it.

Yeah.. that's definitely not happening here.

Once it leaves the factory, it's hard to say what happens.

I've never been to the factory so... What better way to capture a memory than a broken nose or black eye. #benchmadefightclub.

I thought we'd be moving to the Portland area soon but it turns out we're headed to Durham NC. I'll make it out there some day. At least it's a knife friendly state.

2 knives I have received from a certain dealer who just did a terrible job of redoing their website recently, had clearly been used. I opened a 757 with poor lockup and scuff marks, that I'm guessing was returned by another customer after handling and being dissappointed with the lock. I also received a Ritter that had clearly been used. Axis bar looked like knives after a month of use, and the orange handles were dirty. Literally grimey. But, that just means I won't be sending them much of my money. Whether they're toying with knives, or not inspecting returns, I'm not ok with paying MAP prices for used knives.

And apologies for derailing the thread...
