    At the risk of offending the designers at BKC, this is just too busy. The damasteel blade pattern, plus the marbled carbon fiber, plus the MOP, makes for a loud knife with patterns that don't flow well. It is too chaotic to be a beautiful work of art.

    My reaction exactly. I love the Damascus. I love the marble CF, I love the MoP inlay...but all together it's going in too many directions. Kudos to Benchmade for the model choice, and an E for effort. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who like it. Sure there will be a LE Foray I do like in the future.

    I think the knife materials work fine and look good the problem is Benchmade always falls to pieces in the little finishing details. I like the knife EXCEPT , blue thumb stud and spacers was a huge miss, they should have stayed black DLC to tie it all together. Also the screw in the middle of the pearl inlay as others have also noticed on Facebook is terrible looking. They inlay design should have avoided that in a different pattern.

    I agree the blue bling takes away from the package rather than adding to it. DLC would have been much better. Sometimes less is more. I'll still have one though.

    Good observation on the inlay screw. Possibly a different design as mentioned.

    Are they saying the Loki pattern is exclusive to them ?Because tons of builders on instagram are using that damasteel pattern. Too bad it is an unlimited, that takes the collectibility out of it for me.

    You said it. Dear God, it's a mess! It's not easy or pleasurable to look at... makes my eyes jump all over the place. Each individual material is cool, but combined in that way...the result is atrocious.

    I don't care about the blue hardware but I agree with others that there is too much going on on this knife. I was always a big fan of the 690 and was very excited when the 698 came out, but have not bought one yet, and won't in plain black g10. Set this one up with some really nice burl wood and the marbled cf bolster along the lines of the 690, and put that nice damasteel on and I'd probably have bought one.

    When will there be a 698 that I can buy??

    The G10 698 is one of my favorites, so I'm looking forward to seeing one of these in person. I don't think I can decide about this model from a photo.

    I've been hoping for a 698-1 with blue hardware, CF, and S30V. That would easily knock the 484-1 out of my EDC rotation.

    Not true, other builders are using Damasteel Loki from Damasteel. I like it other than the clashy blue hardware. I've noticed that the ancient crew around here is stuck in a time warp and like stuff that isn't even desireable anymore. Nice change up Benchmade

    Find me a designer that is using Loki pattern from Damasteel other than Benchmade. I'll wait. It's not even on their list of patterns on the Damasteel site.

    I hope by the time it does, that I'm even still interested. Benchmade doesn't seem real interested in making knives people want lately.

    I'd love an LE Foray, but I'd be happy with a 698-1 as well. CF, blue hardware, S90v. That would be my instant EDC.
