Benchmade 2750
I have the 2750 and have been carrying it for about a month. I have been thinking that my blade has been getting dull too quickly. (I have had it sharpened twice and I don't use it for anything too strenuous as I am still afraid to scratch this beauty!) Today while cleaning it I noticed a cut into the center of the back spacer where the blade has been pressing on it when closed. it does not sit there but has apparently been pushing against it while closing or while in my pocket.
Is this normal? I wouldn't expect that from a $200+ knife.

It shouldn't touch the backspacer. If you are Legally able to purchase and carry autos and If you can live without it for a couple weeks, send it in to BM and they will fix it right up or replace it.

This is my 3rd Benchmade and I am sure I will have many more. The tip of the knife hits the G10 on it if there is pressure applied to the blade. I hope it is not an Adamas issue because I really LOVE this knife. 0 -
I have the manual version and it does not touch even when pushing on the blade there is clearance. IMO it is just one of the one in a million manufacturing flaws. 0 -
I just picked up my 2750 and its the first Auto I've ever got but back in the day I remember one of my friends used to sell auto's to police and military and it seemed like he told me to keep it open at home at night because the spring will get worn out or something. Can someone tell me if this is true for the 2750 or if thats an old wives tale that was told with older spring mechanisms? 0 -
Not true. Spring metal will fatigue, but it fatigues through cycling, not by resting under stress. It would take years of constant cycling to fatigue the spring, by the way. Just think of a valve spring in a motor. 0 -
Is it just the location you believe is touching the blade that is getting dull, or the whole thing?
The reason why I ask is that D2 is a steel with a relatively coarse grain-structure. This means that things like fats, adhesives, etc. will be more likely to stick to the blade, and you thinking it's dull. Unless you use something like alcohol to clean these off, they may still be on there and not apparent. Then, sharpening it may actually be dulling the edge...0 -
My new 2750 does the same thing....it doesn't rest on the spacer but when pushing down on the blade the tip will hit the spacer. 0
