710-1401 questions
I received a 710-1401 last week. I loosened the pivot to fix centering, the screw moved to easily so I took it out and found there was no loctite on it. I figured I would take the blade off to lube it, before putting loctite on, being I had the pivot screw out. I noticed something. Is it normal?
Around the pivot hole on the blade. There are small holes drilled in the blade. Forming a half circle around the pivot. The holes are pin sized. What are they for? I never saw this on my other benchmades.

Yes that designates the blade steel 0 -
I know its normal .......as to what its actually for ......unsure.
Some say its for steel identity , some folks says traps lube ......
Iam going with steel ID when there just laying around.
Then again Iam not to sure on this.0 -

I am surprised that there are loctite on the pivot screw. If you are lubricating the pivot pin make sure that no lub enters the pivot screw hole. You can use degreaser or acetone to clean it out. the small pin hole is for the detent ball bearing on the frame lock to keep the blade from swinging open when closed and this is normal. The half circle is the ball bearing marking when opening and closing. 0 -

Yup. Confirmed. They ID the blade steel as the blades go through the shop.0
