Fixed Bedlam
Okay, it's time for a fixed-blade Bedlam. The folder has already proven itself as a great skinner and is a mighty self-defense tool. The looks are fantastic, obviously. So it's time to get a fixed.
It's probably not high on their to-do list, so let's keep it simple for the Benchmade R & D team. Let them decide on steel type and scale material.

Seriously - that's the truth. I had to buy a custom at Blade because BM doesn't make one. I'm sure that same money would have bought two Fixed Bedlams.
Or maybe even three of those hipster 940's...
The 94Threes that I carry are waaay too kustom-kool for any hipster. But I digress.
My custom fixed persian has a 6" blade and is plenty big enough. It looks great and is plenty functional. Due to the blade shape, I think it may appear bigger than it actually is. I'd still prefer 6.5", maybe even 7."0 -
A guy gets a big work project and doesn't check in for a couple days and a full outbreak of FIXED BEDLAM fever hits the board. I thought the rash on my arm was from cutting down poison ivy last weekend, but it must just be the fever.
I am with Po and Marty 5 to 6 inches would be great maybe 5 and a half perfect on the FIXED BEDLAM. Maybe, after sales takeoff, they can do a mega King of Jordan edition.
That being said, if Benchmade makes it, it won't matter if it is under 2 inches or over 12 inches, I am getting it and I am carrying it.
And Po is further in his correctness. I believe a broken Bedlam is the perfect knife for any task whatsoever, so, by definition, a FIXED BEDLAM would be more perfecter.
I have used my broken Bedlam to skin and butcher bears, deer, squirrels and rabbits; cut down small (3-4 inch diameter) trees; sliced pizzas in a restaurant; dug a hole to plant a paw paw tree; picked morels; cut a watermelon; cleared wineberries to put in raspberries; eaten a venison steak; run around with it in my mouth like a pirate to impress the grandkids; what won't this knife do?
The real reason for a FIXED BEDLAM is because the human condition insists upon it. Side benefits would be no more bear guts stuck in your folder, pig hunting (don't want to get stabby with a fold on a wild boar), great for concealed carry (assuming you are in an open carry State and are carrying an AR or AK, nobody will notice a FIXED BEDLAM) and most importantly no more teasing from the guys, "Is that a Bedlam in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me." ("It isn't in my pocket stupid it is in sheath on my hip, you can't make fun of me.").
Honestly, I would buy two for field use (a user and a backup), six to use as steak knives, six for steak knives as a graduation present for my sister and probably six for my dad to use as steak knives out in Utah. That is twenty sold already.
FIXED BEDLAM now, FIXED BEDLAM forever.0 -

/|\ the fever burns hot in Chip! Maybe while we wait we can start a group project. SRE-1 would have to spearhead it. I talking about a fixed Bedlam pennant. SRE-1 designs it & Chip finds someone to mass produce it.0 -

I have no need for a fixed Bedlam, but this is all very exciting. I am on board with whatever gets decided here...... 0 -

As such, 6 inches is the absolute minimum that would suffice. However, 7 inches or greater would be more appropriate, relshed and endeared.
The image I posted has the blade upsized to what would be just shy of 6 inches.
Thanks for doing so. It certainly served to fan the flames of the proverbial fever. Much appreciation. Was the height of the thumb ramp and depth of the belly in the elongated picture you were kind enough to share, proportionately increased / deepened, so as to maintain the same or substantially similar ratio in relation to the elongated length of the blade?0 -
Hey, just found this thread on a Fixed Bedlam! What a brilliant idea! Bump!

Claude, as much I dig your posts, if the above is true, all 26 pages of this thread might disappear. May I suggest you edit it to remove intel? 0 -

I appreciate your words of prudence, especially in relation to something so meaningful to us and many others.
Fortunately (understatement of the century), the words I strung together were nothing more than a ridiculous attempt at humor, solely and exclusively the product of my often twisted and warped imagination concocting what I would consider to be one of the most comical and painfully absurd imaginary offerings I could think of at that moment if a purely fictitious and hypothetical decision were to be made to supplant or supersede a Fixed Bedlam.0 -

So much cleaning; that could easily be FIXED by Benchmade.
For those of you who field dress, the 10 hook is a great companion to your (FIXED) BEDLAM.0 -

There is something about a well used Benchmade. 0 -

The question was: "Will Jason relent in 2018 and give his blessing to a Fixed Bedlam?"
I asked three consecutive times and here are the answers:

Just gonna leave this here because if you really want to see one of these I think the best route is to show BM you're willing to pay. I think a fixed Bedlam would be one of the best all around outdoor knives ever. The only task I might put in the con side when it comes to hunting/fishing would be filleting but I'd dang sure give it a try for that too.0 -

Good Lord, I'm so happy to come back and find this here! Made my day.
Definitely buying a 10 hook or two...0 -

I don't understand. Isn't every thread a FIXED BEDLAM thread? I thought there was just a problem with the forum software mislabeling some of the threads. You know, the same way the catalog was misprinted this year with no FIXED BEDLAM in it. Clear typographical error. No need to bring it to anyone's attention. Just operate on the reality that there is a FIXED BEDLAM in it.
Is it hot in here? I might be a bit feverish, but it is hard to tell because I have felt this way for so long.0 -

I think The Fever has been running hot in me lately, too, Chip.0 -
More people drive Ford Escapes than Range Rovers. Similarly, not everyone will have the taste and budget to accommodate a Fixed Bedlam. Not every Benchmade fan will own one, but I'm sure there are other models that sell in lower volumes as well. That doesn't mean they're not totally awesome and desirable - after all, they don't discontinue Gold Class just because they don't fly off the shelf the way other models do. 0
