Greetings and welcome!
Well, the Axis lock isn't exactly new...It's been in use and under refinement for about fifteen years now.
When the Axis lock first came out, I and a lot of other people did a lot of backyard testing on them to find out if they were truly more reliable than the "Walker" or liner lock. Using different versions of what came to be know as the "spine whack" test, Joe Talmadge and I eventually learned that we could cause virtually every liner lock to release without failing. I never, not once during testing, experienced an accidental release from an Axis lock.
The only taint on the Axis lock has been spring failures. These are usually non-critical, as there are two essentially redundant springs. These spring failures have been largely evolved away in recent years also. I cannot remember the last time I read a broken spring report here.
There may be individual characteristics of other types of locks that certain people prefer over the Axis, but the Axis is certainly among the elite folder locks in terms of reliability.0 -
If you look in the "The Laboratory" section of the forum you can watch videos of tests that Benchmade has posted for various axis lock knives.
The Axis lock is, in my opinion, by far the best knife lock there is.0 -
the axis lock is by far and away the best lock out there. nothing comes close. I have had well over 200 axis locks knives and have never ever had an omega spring failure. Once while reassembling a knife I missed putting one of the springs back into place and the lock worked perfectly fine but it felt weak. I opened it up and saw the problem. I think the odds are far against ever breaking both of the springs. 0 -
The axis lock is great. And it allows many ways to open and close the knife.
In short you should have zero concerns over the axis lock. BM also has a lifetime warranty.0 -

Welcome to the forum. You picked the perfect time to be able to get an axis lock Stryker. It literally just came out. Many folks around here have been actively pushing for the axis lock version for years. The axis lock is one of the main reasons why the majority of my folders are Benchmade.
