Griptilian washers
Hey guys. I was looking to replace my washers on my large griptilian. Benchmade wont send them out and I didn't want to send the knife in. There are several online retailers that sell phosphor bronze washers. Only problem is I have no idea what size the washers in the grip are. Is there anyone that knows the specs of the washers for a large gripilian? I would love to just order some online and replace them myself. Thanks

Have you called Benchmade for the size/specs of the washers, I dont know if they will tell you but this would be a start.
You might Private Message Keyman and others that have taken apart their knives, they may have sizing info. Or take your washer to a hardware supplier and see if its a standard size. Just thoughts...good luck. Let us know how you went.0 -
Why do you want to replace them?
I've never heard of them wearing out...0 -
Take one of the washers to Ace Hardware compare it to ones they sell 0 -
If you are located in the USA, you might want to just have Benchmade do it. I have had them replace a bunch...mostly because I couldn't find the exact replacements. The ones I replaced were the old nylon or plastic washers. The knives came back fast and any worn parts were also addressed.
I've never had to replace a phosphor/bronze washer. If they just look worn to you, slide them around on some black sandpaper and they will be smooth and shiny as new. I can't remember the grit size I used. Just buy a multi-pack and use the grit that seems to do the job.0 -
I wouldn't worry about sending it in. I've done it a dozen times, or so. They'll go over the knife completely, replace, clean, lube, and sharpen it up. It'll return to you as good as new in a pretty short time. Top notch customer service. 0 -
If you are concerned about surface being a bit rough on washer, I would recommend to place it on water resistant 1000 and 2000 sandpaper, and use finger tip to make a 1.2 to 3.4 inch circle to smooth out the washer.
If you have decided to disassemble and you lost it, then I will do what Bill Hammer has suggested.0 -
My grip full size came without a washer on one side
