Benchmade Freek

I like this knife too, but the cheap feeling you get from the lightweight grivory is an issue for me as well. It's got strength, but it doesn't feel as such. Don't get me wrong, lightweight knives have their place, but this Freek just doesn't compare to the substantial and rock solid Presidio II. I wonder what higher end variants we might see from the 560 & 590. If they upgrade those, then I'll being buying. I do however like the comfort concept the Freek and Boost bring to the table. I can't knock that idea.

It feels great. I think it will hold up well. It's bigger and lighter then a grip, I am just not used to lighter knives. My edc rotation is a collection of heavy benchmade and heavier other brands. I will let you all know how it holds up. I have a feeling this model will be around for a long time.

I was eyeballing the fool out of the Freek at BLADE last weekend. This might tip me over the edge to a purchase.

Light is a plus to me. I get what y'all mean by a "cheap feel", but in the end, you know it's a Benchmade. The lighter the better.
    Cool

I like the overall looks of the freek, but not only does it feel too light to me (I prefer a little more weight) but the handles just feel cheap. Called BM about another issue I had with my Rift, and during the course of that conversation, the freek came up . I wound up mentioning to them that I'd happier with full liners and G10 grips even though it would likely increase the cost.

Unfortunately, I'll never use this knife, I just don't like it. I'll stick to using my Nakamura as my everyday work knife.

/|\ +1 for EDC constant carry lighter weight knives appeal to me too. And why the 940D2CF & 941D2CF are favorites followed by the 940-1.

I also had a 560. Posted on here last March asking if anyone knew of some different handle options for it as i disliked the rubbery ones the 560 had. Got some leads but then decided I just didn't like the handles or the fact that the liners were way too small for my liking and sold it. Bought another 552 instead and love it.

Great value. Super light. Great blade.

    A real worker.

I wasn't interested in the Freek until I purchased a Ritter Grip (now 2). Now, it's on my radar.

Personally, I thought I might not like the Grivory handles nor the assisted blade on the Boost, but it has become one of my favorite EDC knives when I carry a knife pouch (other favorite is my 520).

Treat it like your new beater..you'll love it. The only complaint I have is the handle material causes it to be a little slower out of the pocket, but almost makes up for it in confort.

I haven't get around in picking it up, but reminds me of RSK Mk-1, the Ritter Grip.
