Western Union Deals
I have not heard of a good deal using Western Union, so I always assume a scam when the seller requests payment that way.
What do you guys think about Western union deals?

I wouldn't use them, they might have been one of the only ways of paying back in that days.
But now there is PayPal and that can protect both the buyer and the seller alike and it's instant..!!0 -
Avoid it unless you know and trust the guy you are dealing with. 0 -
Never mind USPS MO or Western Union, there aren't any guarantees there, and compared to PayPal, (like it or leave it) don't offer the same protection...even if fussy and difficult to deal with, never mind the high percentage levied for the 'priveledge' of doing business.

I agree with you that Western Union is a waste of time; however, I would disagree with you on the USPS MO, joe. There are plenty of guarantees with it. For one, if someone accepts a USPS MO and doesn't ship the item, they have committed mail fraud, which is a federal felony (lose your right to vote, lose your 2A rights kind of crime). The USPS has and does pursue mail fraud. That is why, as a seller and as a buyer, I prefer the USPS MO over PayPal. As a buyer, I know that the seller has more incentive to follow through with the deal. As a seller, that MO is as good as cash for me, and I have the incentive to follow through since I don't want a federal felony on my record. All PayPal can do is close the seller's account.0 -
I don't know what Internet scammers would do without Western Union and Yahoo email. Those two companies have been so incredibly slow to update their fraud policies, they're practically accessories to the crime taking place.
There is a huge amount of legitimate traffic through those services as well, so they're no guarantee of fraud -- they're just your first warning that something may be amiss.0 -
ONCE I paid for a knife with a WU money xfer and it took over a month to get to Houston from Austin. But I did have sellers address and offered to come and pick it up... 2 days later the knife was in my mail box.
Never again.0 -
Lost $2000 to a Western Union and eBay scammer that had all of my eBay info. and even knew what I was looking for. Even got the FBI involved but nothing ever came from it. Never, ever use W.U., period. I was dumb, dumb, dumb! 0 -
I was looking at an Apparition and a BUSSE from a seller.
He provided pics, an address, and a compelling story why he needed to do it Western Union.
Still, I held off to see if another guy received his knife first. Guess what?
The seller before me is super POed. It was a scam--better than most, but a scam all the more.
Heads up to all.0
