Hi guys I've been lurking for the last couple of days and I figured it's time to join.

I've got a like new 950 Rift coming in a couple of days that I traded my ZT 0350 for. The ZT was a great knife, but my hands are rather large and I'm hoping that the Rift will fit me better. Anyone have experience with both knives?

Traditionally I've been a Spyderco man, but I've always wanted to try a BM.

I'll post pics when it arrives.

Welcome to the forum, Anthony.

After reading your post, I pulled out my Zt 0350 and a BM 950 to compare them. The handles are the same length, as near as I can tell. The 950's blade is about 1/2" longer.

The 950's handle seems to give my fingers a little more room. The flipper on the ZT 0350 takes up some of the finger space.

Let us know what you think once the 950 gets there.

Welcome Anthony. If you like the 950, a recommendation would be to try an 810 Contego, which is like the bigger brother to the one you have coming.

Another couple that might work as well for large hands are the 741 Onslaught and 860 Bedlam, all great options.

I say like Joe ..... next knife 810 and it comes in M-4 too

Thanks guys. Yeah the 810 is on my radar no doubt.

When I really think about it it probably wasn't the ergonomics that bothered me so much as the assist. I did try it without the torsion bar, but it just didn't feel right to me.

Oh well if the Rift doesn't fit me BM makes sooo many models I'm sure I can find one (or 20) that I'll like.

I had a 350, and the handle cramped my fingers. I didn't like it much. I have an 810, and love it. I did have to smooth down the jimping on the liners though. And, I smoothed the edges of the g10 a bit. Now she's comfortable to hold and that m4 blade is a work horse. I LOVE it. But, if you do get an 810 just remember that the jimping is a bit rough. Mine was painful to use until I smoothed it out.

Regarding the 810, it must be said; there are two versions. The first edition had too-sharp jimping which BKC addressed in the later 'toned-down' version. On the other hand, I owned one of the first ones and it was just fine, if compared to the scales on the 950.

Welcome to the forum and BM.

I used to be a spydie man myself (only had 2). Once I got my first BM I was hooked. The axis lock is so much better, smoother, easier to use on handed,......

welcome to the forum and to benchmade. i have the 9555 auto rift and the ergo is amazing with this knife, top notch. i also like spyderco, theres room for both in my collection. both companys bring good things to the table. injoy!
