Model Identification
Hey all. I'm new around here but not new to Benchmade knives. I own a few but, the funny thing is they last so darned long that and I just dont see a reason to replace a perfectly good knife. Well I have a Benchmade I need a little help identifying. It was the 1st one I ever bought and it was many, many moons ago. I'm just curious if you guys can help me identify the model. It was my every day carry knife until I replaced it with my old faithful Osborne 940 some 10 or 12 years ago. Thanks for the help.

Looks like a 10400 Pika. 0 -
Isn't that an Ascent? 0 -
I think Conrad is right. With that tip and some google-fu it would appear that it is an 840 Ascent. I've had this knife for what seems like an eternity. Thanks for the clues. 0 -

It's either an 830 or 840. Depends on the blade length.
Here is a catalog scan for it, with the full sized image here.

Definitely an 840, I'm glad I know now. Thanks all. 0 -
I have that exact knife. It's an Ascent, just to reaffirm.
It has no liners and is really lightweight, correct? And the blade is terrific. I prefer knives with more weight and girth to them but picked this up because of the blade design. It's a keeper!0 -
Correct on every point. My only wish is it was a little easier to open and close than it is. after all these years it's still tight.quote:Originally posted by DRM:

Little bit of trivia, the Asent was originally named "The Eclipse" but had to be renamed The Ascent, due to a trademark on the name.
I have an early Eclipse model, circa 1996ish.0 -
These are great kickaround EDC with ATS-34 blades. 0
