    What knife did you get?
Your pictures did not come through. Read this tutorial on how to post pictures.

Are you asking if one is a fake? If you bought one from BM and one from an authorized dealer, you will have 2 legit products.

    Welcome to the forum.

I got the 943. Thanks for the welcome. I think it's working now. It just struck me as odd the blades and logos are so different and thought I'd ask y'all's opinion.

My gut is that neither is a fake.

I think the scenario you have here is one blade that was ground by "Johnny" and the other was ground by "Sally".

Being mostly a free-hand grind process, you'll find slight variations from blade to blade.

At first I wanted to say that the top blade was sent back to Benchmade for a LifeSharp service. Thus, the resharpening process took away some extra material that the other one still has intact.

But it's probably more of a case of "Johnny" grinds more belly, a higher bevel, and a shallower swedge into the 943's on his shift; and "Sally" let's her 943's tapper out more.

You can usually tell if it a case of being resharpened buy comparing the height of metal from blade edge to the apex of the choil. That curve in the choil goes away more and more with sharpening, and is usually an at-a-glance indicator of resharpening(s).

The "click" on 94X axis locks is not uncommon. I just checked any me EDC 940-121 Gold Edition has it.

A lot of chatter in my post. Sorry. Hope it helps.

This might be "Johnny" working the bevel grinder right here: http://youtu.be/BYrDTj4PrTI?t=12m12s

P.S. Mikey (the guy talking) is one of the nicest, most talented men I've met. Simply a stellar dude.

Cool vid TDogg. I didn't know if Johnny5 could cut them exactly the same every time or not. Your explanation makes sense to me.

You had to say 940-121 didn't you??? Add ANOTHER one to the list. I clicked on a link that said 941-81 and the clouds parted, the sun shined brighter, the Angeles sang, and another 940 nut was hipmotized!

Feel free to click on the "Presidential Seal" in my signature and scroll down a bit for some fun pics.

They both "look" real and ultimately we'd have to see them in person to give the best advice. I'm amazed and confused by the noticable difference in handle size though
    Confused
Not that it's not possible in an early run to have differences...

    I clicked the seal!

    WOW! That's how it's done.

Jason, the size difference is an optical illusion. I had to take the picture from an angle because my melon kept causing a shadow.

My main concern was the difference in the intersection of the swedge and the grind line (hope I got terms right.) The one direct from Benchmade, (the one on the bottom in all the pics). The intersection flows better. The other is more abrupt.

Second, the Benchmade direct logo is lighter grey, but crisp. The other is darker but slightly muddy.

If it doesn't jump out as fake to you guys, that's good enough for me. But I bought it online, from an authorized dealer, but you never know....So I threw the Q out there.

    Thanks for the input guys!

Off to find the red one, the blue one, the green one.....Lol! Have a good one!

BM756 The percieved difference in size is the ONLY thing that threw me. If they are the same size, then they look legit.
