Finish Question
Hey guys, most of my knives are BK coated so I'm fairly new to uncoated knives as far as my Benchmades go. I was just wondering what the difference is between the various non-coated finishes BKC uses. I've read a little about personal preferences when it comes to, for example, satin vs stonewashed and I KIND OF get the difference but the details under the "materials" section of the BKC website didn't really clear up my confusion and only provided a couple examples. Of course having a majority of my knives coated doesn't help me distinguish differences and/or my own preferences, but I LOVE the look of my 300s which I understand are considered stonewashed. Clearly there is a difference between those and say my Red Class 10210 or 10402 which are also mirror-like but without that "scratchy" look or my 10600 which I would consider "matte".
Are some common and others typically reserved for presentation-grade/Gold Class models? Are some "better" than others when it comes to durability/corrosion resistance? I would like to start exploring the wonderful world of uncoated blades but I'm at a loss as to where to start. Sorry for the looong post but you guys are a treasure trove of knowledge about these things and I'm excited to learn
