Just ordered this while deployed. I shipped it home rather than here because I see to many damaged boxes that I didn't want it lost or messed up. I seen the gov issue style AFO autos and liked them. I have a mini grip and HK with the axis and love them but wanted an auto. The G10 handle and D2 blade was the main seller for me. How is the axis auto compared to the button auto? Can't wait to get home to have a new knife to enjoy.

Well i am deployed as well and have with me a 9051 bk AFO II push button auto and i love it. I have not used a AXIS based auto knife but if Benchmades quality is any indication i think you will love the knife.

Hi StangCrazy79, welcome to the Benchmade Forum.
There are great members here who can answer questions outside of Benchmade, but please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions you want directly answered.
There are 3 types of "autos". There's the AXIS-Auto, which opens the blade by simply pulling down the AXIS button mechanism. There's the AXIS-Assist, which springs open after starting the opening of the blade. And then there's the plunger button auto, which is a push-down to open the blade, versus sliding the AXIS button.
Both the plunger button auto and AXIS button autos are comparable, but with the main difference being that any of the AXIS button autos or manual folders are ambidextrous, therefore being easily operable with either hand.

I have owned Benchmade push button, Axis auto’s and Axis assist. My preference is the Axis models. Auto Axis is really good and the Axis assist is the fastest, hardest firing blade I have seen on any auto or assist knife. The best part is the Axis system keeps them locked up tight forever and is easy on the hands and fingers.

I always thought the push button would be the fastest becuase of its short travel and just inherently its design? I own a benchmade afo II and its pretty quick.

I have a 470 that I actually purchased for my wife and it was so fast it scared her, so I ended up with and man it is FAST for an Axis Assist...
Just in my own opinion I think it’s faster than any Auto that I have handled or owned…

I have never used a AXIS Assist model. I think there are knives out there that naturally can deploy as fast or faster than auto knife. The auto knife in general does have the cool factor to it as well as in general the auto feature can come in handy in sticky situations. Like the review of the 3300 infidel by nutnfancy, there is also the intimdation factor when someone sees a auto knife deploy it's blade.

Yeah I hear ya I can wrist flip open a blade with no problem. It was mainly a want for one of my bucket list knives. I wanted an auto folder but different than the ones that are issued to military. The reviews I found for how much abuse the 275 could take was pretty impressive too.
