How Many Benchmades Are In Your "Rotation"?

i can't cast a vote because i stopped counting how many have been acquired some time ago; i just don't care to know anymore, lmao (?) not sure how some of you guys are on to other brands as well.

as far as carry rotation, everything bought has made it into pocket at some point along way. genuine use, honestly, maybe handful. abuse, none. i always have a keychain pry tool for such tasks, as well as a plain old leatherman for questionable tasks at work. that stated, I never really got the "cutting up cardboard" just for sake of cutting up cardboard. anyway, you'll get a range of responses, some collect, some are use or lose, and everywhere in between.

    I voted 4-6
    970
    710D2
    710-1401
    760
    790
    806D2

These stay out of their boxes and get constant rotation. 970 followed by the 710D2 and 760 see the most carry..970 is the one I grab to "work".

I do pocket the 810-1401 from time to time and plan to carry the HK auto on occasion.

SAK is usually present as well as a Leatherman Wave or Juice..Opinel 8, and a few other off brands.

    I voted 4-6. 908 LE, 710 M4 or M390, a couple of the 551 M4's, CF 940, An 805 or an 806. The 908 LE is the newest.

Like the other guys, I never abuse a Benchmade. I've been known to trash some lesser brands like S&W

I also have 6, or so, ZT's and Spydercos that I'll EDC on occasion.

482 on office days. 484-1 most of the rest of the time. 698 on special occasions (this was a gift and has sentimental value). And, a 556-1 that gets most of my around-the-house use, and carried any time I might lose it (boat, etc).

The real question is whether the 781 will end up in rotation with the others, or just sitting on my desk opening mail and looking great.

    940s-1
    940s-1501
    4300-1
    531-1501
    810-1401
    586
    586bk
    585bkd2-org
    585s-1101
    Mini Bonesidio

    I think that's about all I carry.

I voted 4-6 before I listed them out. Please subtract one from there and add it to 7-12.

In the rotation. I carry and use all of these folders, depending of what my day/night may look like:

    790 Subrosa
    Ivory 940 w/-1 blade
    940-1 w/943 blade
    M4 Grip (non-Ritter)
    805.5-1101
    806-1101
    806-901
    Auto-Stryker
Bedlam (Temporarily out of rotation - mirror polish in process)
    740 Dejavoo

Plus 3 or 4 knives from other makers.

I'm like NSA, there are a lot of knives and virtually everything gets carried, except for one 710-144. Some a few times a week, others one Friday a month, others rarely.

More or less in order of pocket time -

15080 Crooked River - I've got both a G-10 version and a custom Desert Ironwood knife.

    AFCK - I've got a 806-1101, an 806BK-1101, and a 805-1101. The 806BK gets carried most often.

581 Barrage - One with KSF G-10 scales, one with Keyman Bone G-10, third with lightweight Grivory scales.

810 Contego - got a 810-1401 M390 KW exclusive, got a standard 810BK, and of course a 810BC-1602 which doesn't get carried out of the house.

551 Griptilian - got a 551-1(20CV), 551-1302(S30V), and several LE and custom build G-10 knives with S30V or M4, about a dozen altogether.

    Office EDCs -
Once or twice a week I go in to my office, carry one of these:
530-111 Gold Class in dark green G-10 REI 531-1501 handle
530-1303 REI LE, Carbon Fiber, S30V blade
    531-1501 – S30V, 530-111 carbon fiber handle
    531-132 Gold Class
    525-81 Gold Class
    525BK-1101
585BK – S30V blade, 586-1401 SHOT Show LE black bolsters, Grn/blk G-10, OD custom shop spacer
586 – Custom shop OD scales, black hardware, 586-1401 SHOT Show LE blade
    690BCCF
690-01 DM blade – Gold AG Russell LE liners, standard CF/Winewood scales

Three or four days a week, I go on a 1-2 hour hike in the hills, and I most often carry a 970ST.

    Occasional carry -
    1000001 Volli
    943BK
    860 Bedlam
    808 Loco
    757 Vicar

Everything else is in the rarely category, Benchmade-wise.

    Other brands -

I carry a Tom Mayo large TnS, or large Persian pretty regularly.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Pohl Force folders. I have a Mike One and a Mike Five that get regular pocket time.

Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn folders get regular carry.

Pretty fond of the Hogue-Elishewitz EX-01, and EX-04. They get occasional carry.

I have a couple Spydercos - an S90V Manix XL, and a Tatanka that are carried occasionally.

Couple of Cold Steel Recon 1s that get occasionally carried.

And a couple ZTs, a 0562CFCTS, and a 0801 that get carried occasionally.

So by my calculations, about two dozen knives that get regular carry time.

I voted 25+, since just about all my knives make it into my pocket (or belt pouch) at some time or another.

That said, some knives are carried much more frequently than others. The top five would probably be:

    531BK
    Ritter Grip (full size, S30V)
    710HSSR
    750BT
    745

It's hard to say, I keep finding knives I forgot I had and using them.

My most used production knives are all Benchmade or Strider but I have a number of custom makers I like to use also.

If I leave out the safe queen duplicates:
770, 485, 705 w/707 liners, 14210, 555 M4, 556-1/Ritter, 586 de-assist, 15031, 698, Alias2, and 765. There are others: Chris Reeve Mnandi and Sebenza, Wm Henry B30, and a Strider PT. I'm almost all Axis and frame lock, with more Axis by a wide margin. I love keeping my fingers away from the closing blade.

I pretty much carry the 810DLC-1602 everyday
    Big Grin
unless I'm going somewhere a big knife would scare people or I'm doing something stupid at work and figure I should carry something I don't mind getting a little hard use out of.

But everything I own gets used and carried.

    Everyday/normal use: 810DLC-1602, 950, 735s
    Hard use: 275, 806
Nice Carry/Trying to not scare people: 586-1401, 551BK-1301

I love that you carry your forum knife. From the pictures you have posted it looks to be wearing well.

It's standing up to use way better than I expected. It really is a great knife and makes happy every time I use it or flip it out in front of a knife person who hasn't seen it.

I have 25 BM knives. One on order 781 Anthem and one at BM getting repaired 3300BK-1701 Infidel.
    So 27 soon.

Some are dupes because I didn’t know a better version was available until after I bought it. REI 531 - 1501
    Or a better version comes along. 710-1401, 950BK -1401 (Obligatory October EDC), 940-1, 551-1, 552-1402.

I rotate them all. No safe queens, although the forum knife gets Light Duty status.
Sometimes depending on what I’m I’m doing and sometimes what catches my eye/knife of the day.

I gave up my wind chimes for those that remember my newb display and have three BM blue plexiglass 7 knife displays centered on the shelf in my closet with other BM swag surrounding them. My BM shrine. It’s time for another one!

It makes it real easy to look over and decide.
I always carry a Rescue SOCP and a BM Titanium or Damasteel pen

    Much like myself.
I've got a pretty large collection of Benchmades, all of which I carry on random rotation. Some much more often than others. But they nearly all get carried and use, with the exception of a few rare Golds. My knives are laid out on shelves in a safe. The pretty ones that are purely for collection's sake are in a display case in my office.

The display is under lock and key, but certainly not bulletproof... yeah, that is why I'm leaning towards scrapping the display and making everything a user before I turn to dust. I've said here before, the expensive knives which sit on display for a while and only get fondled either eventually get thrown into the carry rotation or traded. There usually is a 'warm up period' for some of the more rare ones though. Sometimes it may take me some time to be comfortable carrying certain hard to find knives. But I've only gotten rid of a handful. Usually, when I 'reassess' my collection, it's to add to it, 90% of the time. I hate letting knives go. There's no good reason to need so many knives for carry purposes, other than my passion for knives. Variety is the spice of life.
Anyhow, good luck getting to my office, thieves.

Not the newest thread, but a fun one to discuss. So my reply would be:

    580-2 as my go-to, all-around favorite EDC.
710D2 and 908BK are my other top EDC choices depending on type of pants and mood.
746BK, 707, and 14716BK all see plenty of pocket time for bummin around the house and/or when I'm wearing gym shorts or sweats.
14715BK for when I'm doing things outside such as yardwork, hiking, warm-weather hunting, etc. It's my primary hard-use folder.
15008 rounds out my "frequent carries list" for when I'm hunting or camping - especially during the cold winter season when heavy clothing/large packs make carrying a fixed blade more practical.

I have a dozen or so other BKC knives in my collection which exist either as shelf queens or as backups for knives on the list above. I also carry knives from my (fairly substantial) non/Benchmade collection from time to time but I find myself strongly preferring the Butterfly-branded ones over the Kershaws, CRKTs, and the like.
