Model 42 needs new blade
Hey guys. I have a very old model 42. This is one of the much older ones that used the 440c steel.
Anyway I just discovered that this thing is worth much more the what I paid for it 13+ years ago.
It has been used and abused. Besides normal usage marks. The blade was almost destroyed a few years ago. When I took it to a traveling knife sharpening service. At my local hardware store.
The guy took too much off and left uneven sides\bevels. I have been able to fix it over the years with much reprofiling. However it still looks like hell.
I'm in the great nanny state of california. So asking benchmade for any help is out.
Are there any places that sell new or used bali-song parts?
Anyone know of a reputable bladesmith who can fix the blade? I'm thinking a professional reprofiling and maybe some good buffing might do wonders for the blade.
Thanks

I'm not aware of any places that sell bali parts, but that doesn't mean they don't exist! 0 -
Josh @ Razors Edge might be able to help salvage the blade. I'll get a link posted when I get back to my desk.
There are makers out there that might make a blade...and I know there are parts to be found.0 -
So Benchmade won't service this 42? 0 -

Find a dealer and have them ship it to BM for you.......
They can do this easily ,0 -
Thanks, I'll look into asking a local dealer. The only one I know might not want to. But I'll ask them. I could also call around asking other dealers. 0 -
Benchmade changed that policy years ago.
They are only accepting and returning "your" knife. Not selling you a knife.
They honor bali's from California.
But I heard they are out of blades for the 42.0
