Lots of us have a small group of knives that are known in the industry as "Gentleman's Folders". Basically they are small, smooth knives that you can carry on those unfortunate days when you have to wear a suit or slacks.

Korz mentioned a couple of good ones.

I would personally recommend the 943 or 940 for that duty. They don't mess up a suit or slacks and are light. Another great choice among many is the Bradley Alias II made by Benchmade. It won't have the Axis lock that you are used to, but it does have a nice titanium frame lock.

I face this same problem several days of the week. From my experience:

Avoid grippy G10 handles like the plague. They will destroy your pockets with a fury.

Stick to the following models: (1) BM 940 [carries perfectly in slacks and incredibly functional]; (2) BM 710 (a litle large for slacks, but the G10 is smooth enough as to not rip pants); (3) Shoki (a bit small for my tastes); (4) 707 (smooth but a little small); (5) BM 470 (too small for my tastes).

It is well settled that the 940 is the once and future king. Get one as soon as possible. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks alot for the suggestions, after work today I will get searching. This scenario may not play out, but I want to be prepared, will have issue with Pistol as well, working on that too.

Am I looking for an excuse to buy a new knife & Pistol?? Sounds like it!

    Thanks Again.

I would recommend a medium grit sand paper and lightly sand down the rough ridges on the scales.
A new knife might go for a $150, a couple of pieces of sandpaper will cost less than a dollar, you do the math, of course if you want to buy a new knife than just buy one.

I sanded mine down (contego)and I carry it with no problem and no torn pants.

When this guy wears a suit, he never carries anything smaller than an 810.

I carried a mini-AFCK and a Leopard for a long time wearing dress slacks without a problem. The AFCK has relatively smooth G10. In current models I think the 581 and 890 would be easy on the pants. My 913 also seems to be easy on the pants.

My leopard with the smooth aluminum scales was not a problem and so current models such as the 940 and 943 should be OK.

Same answers...over and over. Choice is obvious.

I like the mini AFCK idea though...Let us know.

If this were Laser pic...it would be better quality,...and all knives would be real and more rare

Definitely an obvious favorite, I think I will go with the 940, and if I can come up with the cash the 710 while I am at it!

    Thanks Again

Most days I'm carrying a 940 or/and a 943 in some way or another. Let me also throw out the 530 as a dressy option + the 707 is even more compact.

FYI if you are considering a 710 purchase a popular retailer has the 710-3 in cpm-m4 back in stock if you are willing to carry a non-stainless blade.
