Blade grinds
The subject has come up a few times in the blade steel thread, so here it is.
What blade grinds would you like to see? What is it about that grind that appeals to you?

Mikey has made a straight razor, and it is awesome looking.

The concept razor they brought to Blade in 2013 was awesome. Unfortunately, Mikey said that to get the edge quality he and Les wanted all the blades would have to be hollow ground by hand. Les was at that Blade Show and chimed in that that would send the cost through the roof. 0 -
Good info Chip. So what, add another 150.00 to each knife, they would sell like crazy. 0 -

I am not so sure about that, but I would love the opportunity to get a Benchmade straight razor. Much like kitchen knives, it is outside Benchmade's core products and I just don't see the hipster barbershops of New York and San Francisco running out to buy $500 Benchmade straight razors. I would get one and it appears you would get one, but I don't have any idea how big a run would be needed to make money.
I would put it above a reissue of the 49, but just behind a FIXED BEDLAM on my want list.0 -
Funny I stumbled on this thread this morning. Just last week, I was talking to Reese Weiland, who has a buddy that's grinding custom straight-razors, making the scales, etc. Dude is only charging a couple hundred bucks. Reese said he should be getting at least $500 because people will pay it and the quality is superb. I need think so, too. But what do I know?! If KnifeWorks had a tough time moving a knife like 806-1101, then I'm not the guy to ask. 0 -

To answer the original question from 2013, thin stock, high polished hollow grind FTW.
(Bean counters will never that happen though)0
