    Wise choice
    Wink

I had a rift and gave it to my bro after two days.

That being said, the 940 can be elegant, and a workhorse at the same time. It’s light (you’ll forget its in your pocket), and the satin plain edge is mighty fine. I used to like big blades, but when I’m on duty, the last thing I need is another heavy tool on me.. problem solved.

    It is perfection in EDC

    Congrats
    Cool

As has been said, the 940 is super light & very versatile.

I wasn't crazy about the purple backspacer at first, but give it some time and it will really grow on you.

Good choice. One of the best knives that BM has.

I think the backspacer is pretty cool looking. It is out of place and eye catching at the same time. Very nice looking in my opinion. It's just like the backspacer on the Spyderco Techno. It too looks out of place but it's eye catching and adds some style.

Or get a 941, "cough blade swap cough".
    Razzer

I definitely prefer the black w/ blue combo & the blade ain't bad either. Gotta say I do LOVE the 941 as well. You can't go wrong with any of the 94xs.

I hope you enjoy your new knife when it gets to you & there will be a few takers if for some reason you don't

I saw a picture of a 941 blade and to be honest, I like the blade profile of the 940 from the factory. That is the nice thing about benchmade knives, if you want to resell or trade them then there are always customers who are willing to do business.

    Agreed.

940 has a little more bang for your $$$ steel wise. Gotta love that reversed tanto

BM used to make a 942 which was the regular Reverse Tanto blade w/ the Black handles and Blue Titanium backspacer... Don't know why they ever disco'ed it

What about the AFCK and the 42 ? The Emersons and the Rukus / mini rukus ?

Not the only reason, but a major reason

I just checked my order from Benchmade and the knife is on it's way

I have never sharpened S30V steel so I do not know how much of a challenge that steel is to work with, but at the same time I will be using the Life Sharp service as my sharpening skills are ok and do not want to mess up a awesome knife like the 940.

S30V isn't that bad compared to others, then again I've only sharpened S30V blades that were *slightly getting dull.. So I don't know how long/or hard it would be for a real beater.

I use Lifesharp for my more collectible pieces.. I'll prob send off the 121 once it starts getting dull. I sent in an old Infidel that had major blade play and also had them sharpen it - dude it came back razor sharp.. I was like, why the hell didn't they do that in the first place!

The AFO II I have was the sharpest factory knife I have ever used. I shaved literally a 10 inch super smooth and clean path of hair off my right arm and I was applying very little pressure. I was like OMG!! this thing is sharp. Not to mention getting cut by it like 10 times.

From the title of the post I thought you decided to pop the question to some lucky young lady

The 940 (serrated) was my second (or third)BM I ever bought, I don't carry it much, only on special occasions (weddings, Bar Miztvahs, funerals god forbid) when I need a light gentleman's knife.

I fixed the title of the thread to something more inline with what I actually did. This knife I carry with me all the time. This knife already gave me a little cut here or there.

    Glad you like it

Not feeling it in your pocket is what sold me years ago, sometimes you follow hype with larger knives but honestly - a 940 is all you'll ever need..

All they need is some in M390 now - or more M4!

M390 or M4 version of the 940 I think would add like 50 or 60 dollars to the price tag but it would be worth it.

I wonder if they're having issues with M390? They have M4 down, its only drawback is that its corrosive (still haven't had any issues though)

My 581 with M390 is good to go. The only thing about M390 I have heard is when heat treating it is very difficult to do and sometimes warping came into play.

I have to admit I make fun of the green and purple. I don't actually have one. I have 3 940's and a 943. At the end of the day my EDC rotation is simply a 50/50 split between 940 and a Ritter mini. I figure I should get one since if they ever do stop making the green one I would hate be to the only one who never actually got one.
