I would pay good money for "our own" custom touches on current production models.. Similar to the "pre-chosen" grip options without the cheap plastic scales.. But seeing that BM is catering to people who complain about their prices being "too-high" (which is understandable for business, but annoying for hardcore BM fans
    Roll Eyes
who want better materials), I doubt we will ever see a custom shop happen. how many future models of plain ol' black G10, or chalky aluminum do we have to see before we can have some different materials..? (Specifically the LE's that have been coming out) They could set the market with something amazing... ahh I digress..

    quality over quantity peeps

Last thing, even that recent LE grip, it doesn't even deserve the title LE because all it has is M4 - at least throw on some G10!

I feel the quality in the LE's & Exclusives diminishing..

Some feel rushed, others not well-thought out.. Then again that's what gold class is for

Hopefully the traffic in this thread gets noticed soon and we get a reply? Not like Benchmade to not answer questions we have super fast!

I haven't checked in in a while. Sorry to leave you all hanging. The custom shop of Benchmade past was a line of handmade balis, wich were made to order, with many blade, handle and finsh options. The custom bali blades were ground by Jody Sampson.
Here are a couple of scans from a 1987 catalog showing many of the possible configurations that were available.

The handmade concept knives, that were shown at the USN gathering last August, are what started the conversation about the possibility of bringing back the custom shop in some form. This is something that has been talked about, but if it will take place and what it might look like is unknown at this point in time.

Well that sums it up! Thanks for the clarification Mikey! I eagerly await any updates on the "concept"!

    The seeds of change
    Cool

It would be cool if there were different configurations for some classic models but I understand the difficulty of doing that. Maybe different scale options like you guys did with the 615.. Small baby steps lol

Another point - choosing your own type of blade steel for already existing models
Example: stonewashed 940 in M390 or uncoated M4

-----> new materials please (no more aluminum, G10, or even Ti) on special LE's or exclusives.. There's a reason KW's exclusives are still there.. No offense
