Request for knives to test
I haven't seen a Contego, Rift, or Presidio tested, and these are definitely meant for hard use. Also, the 581 Barrage would be good to see as well, to see how your M390 holds up. Would you mind testing these, please?

lb, they've tested the 520. the thread is down toward bottom of 1st page.
agreed on the contego.0 -
3550 please! I mean I've "tested" it for a decade now but you have fancier toys! 0 -
If possible I too would very much like to see the Rift & Contego tested. These are two of my favorite BM's and I'd really like to see how they hold up.
Thanks!0 -

You know what I'd love to see?
Some comparison testing of different blade steels; edge retention, ductility, and impact/chipping resistance.
Say 3 or 4 different steels, but all the same knife and grind. Perhaps a 551 with blades of 154CM, S30V, M390, and M4...
Now that would definitely get my attention0 -
I want to see a 62, 32 or 51, and 53. 0 -
1) 810 plain edge
2) 710 plain edge
3) Ritter Grip
Thanks!0 -
How about one real test,in cutting direction, not against axis lock but stop pin.
Just thinking loud.

That's true... I'd wager that the stop pin on a lot of knives is weaker than the axis bar. 0 -
We all know the 3550 is a BA knife.. like you I have over a decade of use backing that model. Only replaced a few springs. 0 -
Barrage m390 would be nice for a test. 0 -
Test for the 746 and/or 741. I've been curious about how the thin blade would hold up. It'll be great if you do both the 154CM and D2. 0 -
How about the iconic 710 or a Rift? Don't think we've seen those yet

Thin blades? How bout the 530? I love mine, maybe I'll do my own test!

I wouldn't mind seeing that myself. Please do!0 -
Now that you've already done my favorite I guess we can go down the line. Test for the 746 and/or 741 would be very interesting. I've always wondered how the thin blade would hold up. I have one and love it but often wonder about the thinness of the blade.
Next in line would be two of my all time favorites, the Rift & 710. Both are such popular knives it would be great to see them tested. I'm sure it would be impressive but it's so nice to see it for yourself.
Thanks again for doing all these tests!0 -
I would absolutely LOVE to see either the mini Bone Collector or mini Presidio tested. I EDC a mini BC, and would love to know how the thinner liners fare against the CATRA's lock failure test. I'd love also to see how the mini BC's D2 cuts the various materials and stands up against the wedge battoning.
Nothing like seeing your EDC put to the test!
Thanks a million for these tests.

Anyone consider an edge holding comparison between the 3 readily available 551 blade steels? I'd love to see some data on s30v vs d2 in the same blade design.

I agree with those who suggested making 551 blades out of different steels to see the differences. I would like to add that 440C would be good to see in the mix.
I know some steel snobs won't like that, but in my opinion, it's one of the best all arounders out there, especially when price is considered. That's what I'm using for most of my customs.

Just watched the 2550 Mini Reflex test video. Saw the "open stop impact test" (where you stab the knife into oak like a hatchet).
I would love to see this test on an Infidel, stabbing straight into an oak block, then hammer it in more to test lock strength in a straight ahead stabbing motion.0 -
Would like to see a 9101 auto Stryker it happens to be my EDC or an infidel that would be cool as well. 0 -

I'm new to this forum and recently got my first Benchmade, a 15030-1 mini Bone Collector. It has become my edc, and I would love to see it tested, thanks. 0 -
I would like to see your Puukko 200 test.
