Bless it's heart even though it is made of D2 and I have to send it into Lifesharp to get a new edge on it (because it's a B@stard to sharpen) I gotta go with the current production 710.
    I love it.
It has spent the most time in my pocket of any knife I own (although the 2012 Forum knife is giving it a run for its money!)
It's the 710 that started my love affair with this knife and I gotta stay true.

Here is a link to the group I started on facebook dedicated to the 710. At this point I have a whole lot of sweet 710 pics posted.

The M390 is a good looker with it's satin blade. The M2 fits the bill, because I'm an old fashioned steel snob.
The M4 is a modern replacement for the M2; cause it's easier to sharpen.
OK, OK...M390 cause it cuts and it's good lookin'!

    I have a "holy" 710-2, a "holy" 710-3 and a user - original textured black G10 710-3.
I like the user 710-3's cerakote M4 too much to touch the fancy ones. I need to sell them, but they're works of art; thanks to Keyman.

    First choice: 710-3 (M4)

    Second Choice: Satin M390

The 710 sees most pocket time and has been in my EDC rotation for years

Like the super steels the best, M2, M4, M390 but much prefer the early grind on my old 154 cm 710.
    Big Grin

Its just the new grind is a bit watered down.
Smaller swedge, less blade belly etc.

    hehe, I didn't think so.

Seems like a testament to how tough the DLC coating is, if it can stand up so well to your normal use.

I would love to see it on more knives from BM.

I do not have a 710 and am really starting to notice that that happens to be a tactical error on my part. I'll probably be buying a 710-3 in the near future and hope to find a 710-2 somewhere down the line.

The only Benchmade 710 that I have left and will always be with me or the family is the M2 HS.

I liked M4's but for some reason or another, the M2 I have takes a much better edge than the M4's.

    YMMV...

No doubt in an excellent fashion. But I want limited G-10 and steel. I think Benchmade owes the 710 another Gold Class model. Stamascus, Ti bosters, ala the 581-131, and contoured carbon fiber. That would get me back into the 710.

But the equivalent of the 806-1101 would do it, M-4 and contoured G-10.

Whenever I think back on favorite 710's I alway think of this fine custom that Po sold me a few years back. It was the smoothest knife I ever opened. It now resides with Johnno in the Land Down-under.

Ahhhh, thanks for posting those pics fast one. That was an extraordinary beauty indeed, inside and out. Dave Bettencourt created a work of art with that knife.

    Indeed,

Beautiful knife, is that a custom job? Or a model I missed out on?

Wood definitely needs a come back

Custom pimp job by Dave Bettencourt. Contoured ironwood scales, custom linen Micarta back spacer, mirror polished screw, jeweled liners, little extra buffing on the blade. It was fine in the hand, smooth in operation, and a beauty to look at.

It looks like Benchmade didn't skeletonize the liners back then(see the scale screws).
    Those scales sure are beautiful!
But also flat, I don't really see what I would call contouring.
I've got some Ironwood; but no time for personal projects.
One thing is for sure though.
The 710 is certainly an awesome model to do some pimping on!

My favorite was the 710-01. Mine went to Australia a couple years ago.

Brass and wood handles, no pocket clip and a nice leather sheath.
