707 Sequel Question
Hi,
I'm a new Benchmade owner and wanted to ask about my new knife, it's a 707 Sequel.
Basically, I'm trying to figure out if I've got a dud. My issue is with the pivot screw, obviously too tight and the blade won't open/close nicely, too loose and there's side to side play on the blade.
Unfortunately, the goldilocks zone, where there's no play but the blade still opens nicely, I can loosen or tighten the screw just with light pressure from my finger and it works loose pretty quickly opening it.
It's a real shame, because other than this, I love the knife. I was considering getting some thread lock or something, but on a brand new knife at this level I don't feel I should be having to do this.
Any thoughts?
Cesare

Put some blue locktite on the pivot , adjust it to were you want it and let the knife sit approx 6 to 8 hrs while the locktite sets up .....then the screw wont loosen up.
If your impatient , you can use plumbers tape on the threads and be finished with it right away.
I find it hard to get that tape on those little threads..0 -
ONLY USE BLUE LOCKTITE ......NOT RED 0 -
Welcome to the forum.
DJ is completely correct. If your knife is new the pivot action will break in and get smoother after 100 openings of so. Therefore you may have to redo the locktite again once it gets broken in.0 -
hi,
I have ordered some blue locktite, but am just wondering if this will void the warranty on the knife?0 -

Don't worry,why should it?0 -
Welcome aboard Cesare,
I adjust mine by putting loctite (blue) then with the blade open and with the axis lock pulled back, slowly loosen the screw until the blade drops. Once I find the sweet spot then tighten it up just a hair.
Good luck.0 -

hmmm, looks like I just killed my sequel. for anyone else with an issue like this, for the price they cost, I'd recommend sending it back and getting a refund. 0 -
What happened? How could you kill it? 0 -
I wish I knew, first up the blade is out of alignment slightly and second, whilst careful not to put too much loctite and to wipe off the excess, some must have got into the pivot somewhere somehow.
even with the pivot screw at the point of falling out the blade wont move without pressure.
I am in the process of dismantling it for a thorough clean and start again. unfortunately I don't have any suitable lube, but I wanna get the loctite cleaned before it cures.
can't believe I'm having to do this on a brand new knife :/0 -
Benchmade customer service is second to none. They will make it right. No worries! 0
