This is the coolest I have seen from Benchmade in a long time. But BM has a talent to ruin great designs.
Why coat the blade and make it a gold class? It screams PLEASE DON'T USE ME.

Since there is a new pricing policy I don't think I am able to get one althought I really like the looks.

I'm cool w/a coated blade, but a coated M390?...I don't think so. The knife does look great, however.

    Hi all!

    Crowned M390 blade, DLC coated.
    Black carbon fiber handles.
    Red Translucent C-tek inlays.
    Crimson anodized aluminum barrel spacers.
    DLC coated split arrow.
    200 pcs, $700 MSRP

We had a little fun with the contouring and scallop cuts on the handles/inlays...

It's actually a 586... Little bit sleeker belly.

    586-141.

Wow, fantastic. I'll be picking one of those up if the actual price comes in under $400.

The price is a joke, right? This is more than a ZT 0777. Seriously?

I would have to lose my mind before I'd be willing to pay that much for a small production pocket knife.

For me there is no way to justify this purchase.

Well, not a joke exactly. They will be available for significantly lower prices than the suggested retail. There is a chance I will get my wish, particularly since this is primarily tactical materials and finish as opposed to Damascus and such.

pretty neat looking little knife. I'm not sure I like the red c-tek stuff, but that's because I've never had any to try before.

Well, I don't think so. You are aware that Benchmade changed their price policy in recent weeks? Dealers do not provide coupon codes anymore. There will be only 15% off of MRSP.

Well, all I can say is, I won't be spending $595 for this knife. There may be 200 people who will, I don't know.

There is no way around it, at least for me. Even half of that is too much. That's just my opinion. But what do I know.

It's not that I don't have the funds but I would feel just stupid laying tat much on the table. Still a sexy knife.

When it's available I tell you my local dealer's price. You will LYFAO.

I remember the last price change a few years ago. I got bent out of shape over the issue. Then distributors figured out a way to sell the knives at normal prices. There’s no point in manufacturing a product to sit on dealer shelves. I could be wrong.

    Great Gold class addition!!

No, you are not wrong, Dr. This has happened several times over the last twenty years or so, and the impact to Internet customers has always been negligible. I guess things could be different this time, one never knows.

I'm willing to pay $200-$250 for a standard model Benchmade Axis lock, but not willing to pay the equivalent price of a one-off hand made knife for a one of 200 anything made mostly out of regular production steel and carbon fiber. But this is an old saw.

This has been the model for the Gold Class pricing, and Benchmade does not seem to have trouble selling them, they are not changing. This is a great knife, and somewhat rare, so I'm sure they will be worth $600-$700 to someone.

I agree 100% with you, Po. I too am willing to pay the Axis lock BM knife that the design and steel I like, but not convinced paying over $500 for the knife. Sure, it would be nice to brag for owning limited number of rare knives, but I am more Spartan in using my tools. It is the design and quality of production knife I like from Benchmade. I have not signed up for the habit of collecting. I would start with Ferrari, may be..

This is an excellent looking knife, but really, you're not getting that much. A 586 is already M390... it's already a completely machined handle, only aluminum and G10. You're not going to eat up endmills too much faster with CF compared to G10. So they've bumped it up to CF added an inlay and increased the MSRP $470.

I mean... if I were to make these scales... I don't think any of you would be willing to pay me 470 dollars for them.

Totally would if you only make 200 of them

Just the other day I was working out how I wanted to make some inlays in a mini griptilian... guess this means I should go with cf and ctek.

In that context there is no arguing it's overpriced.

But its worth what people will pay for it, and I bet the majority of them will sell at $700.

The big winner will be ebay. They will make $83 on a $700 sale between auction fees & paypal fees.

Just to let everyone know (if you're interested) the knife is showing up at some retailers. I Think it looks great but way to expensive. Oh and not a fan of black blades.
