Switchblade Victory?
I saw this on Knife Rights.

Back in 2009 Obama signed into law the addition to the exclusion of penalty's of owning a switchblade. This is the new part but what does it mean for the average person?
(5) a knife that contains a spring, detent, or other mechanism designed to create a bias toward closure of the blade and that requires exertion applied to the blade by hand, wrist or arm to overcome the bias toward closure to assist in opening the knife.

They seem to do everything but actually chase criminals, if they put as much money in to actually chasing bad guys as they do writing stupid legislation we actually might get somewhere with real crime.. 0 -
It seems the law exclusion is a great thing and gives a little more freedom. But yeah, punish the criminals not the knife.

I'm not an expert but it sounds like they are saying assisted opening knives don't apply to the switchblade law as long as you have to manually push on the blade to start the "assist." Assisted opening is something knife companies invented long after the original "switchblade laws" were written so this clause doesn't change the fully automatic part but just allows or clarifies that newer "assisted openers" are allowed. Of course this is all just my opinion on it so don't call me from your jail cell. Lol 0 -

Hmm that sounds pretty accurate now that i think about it. I hate the political wording they use in laws. How about saÿing "If you have a assisted opening knife it will not be considered a automatic or switchblade knife" I think my wording of the law is better LOL

Great job Knife Rights, AKTI, and NRA!
This is an exclusion we've had in CA since around 2000.0 -
I am NRA member and thinking about joining Knife Rights. Is anyone a Knife Rights member here?
