Lifesharp, Warranty, and Repair FAQ
This thread will be used as an FAQ for all your questions and answers related to Benchmade's Lifesharp, Warranty, and Repair services. When questions are answered that can benefit future users we will post them here for everyone to easily view.
If you do not find the answer you are looking for start a new thread with your question. Our Benchmade Product Service Representatives will be available to answer your questions between 7:30 and 4 PST.
Q: When we ship our knives up to Benchmade for servicing, do we pack our knives in their original blue/black boxes? If not what do you recommend?
A: We do not recommend sending in your original Benchmade packaging because we cannot guarantee its return. In order to safely ship your knives to Benchmade we recommend using bubble wrap or air pillows to prevent the knives from damage. If you are sending in multiple knives, separating them with individual plastic baggies will help prevent damage due to shipping. Also please send your knives in a trackable, insured, and appropriately sized box. Ripped and torn envelopes have lead to missing knives in the past. Please use ‘BKC INC’ on the box rather than ‘Benchmade’ to prevent prying eyes during shipping.
Q: If we send our knives up to Benchmade to be re-bladed, can we have the original blades back, and if not, what happens to them?
A: It is Benchmade’s Policy to not send out major parts. This includes handles, liners, blades, and internal turn parts. As for the used blade, depending on the condition when it is being replaced, they are generally reused for sharpening practice or as lasermark test blades to ensure the highest quality service we can provide. The blades are then recycled to receive a second life.
