Which one it's the perfect Benchmade?
Hello Everyone I'm totally new to the forum but I'm looking for the Perfect Benchmade Which one do you think it is? My first bet will be on the BM 710 with M390 Steel.

Welcome to the Forum Rakden. Well, there are many options for the "First" Benchmade, but a 710 in M390 would be a grand place to start!

The M390 710 is a favorite of mine. Let us know what you think once you have one. 0 -
Welcome, I don't think there is a perfect... maybe 10 Benchmades would make a perfect Benchmade.
For me I think all things considered maybe a 550HG.0 -
Thanks Guys,
I'm just start looking. I also like the Barrage 581, that looks nice..0 -
710 in m390 sounds pretty excellent.
I have a 710d2. The 710 has a lot going for it. That said, my Edc is a rift at the moment.0 -
Rakden...you've got good taste in knives. I too think that 581 is another great one. 0 -
For me it's 940D2CF or 960-801. In a perfect world I'd like to see a 940M4CF. Either way though, for me the slightly smaller, slim, light 940 and 960 lines are just right. 0 -

Nothing is perfect even not after years and hundred different models.
Welcome there.

I don't know if there is such a thing as a perfect knife, but as long as it's got a ,
or
on it, you can't go wrong

The 581 is one of my favorites (except for being assisted...) and the M390 710 is excellent as well.0 -

Don't ask for advice in this forum; you will only get persuasion.
No Benchmade is perfect, each has its character. Buy whichever suits your purpose and to your liking. 710 in M390 is an excellent choice. Keep searching!0 -

Yea, there are some great knives for sale in the 'want to sell' section.
Go buy one.0 -
it doesn't matter because you'll end up with a bunch of them anyway. so just start buying and trying 0 -
The 710 is a great knife, but IMHO the 581 is better.
For me, it's the blade that makes the difference. The 581 has a deeper profile and is a near full flat grind so is a fantastic slicer. The handle is considerably larger than the 710 so may not carry as well, but feels better in my hand. And the Assisted Open is not for everyone, but can be removed fairly easily converting the 581 to a regular Axis lock.
This is my second one, the first one I 'lost' in a trade. Regretted giving it away so had to replace it. Not so sure I would buy another 710 in a similar scenario...0 -
Closest thing to utility perfection I've found is my M2 Nimravus. It has performed every outdoor task I've put it to flawlessly, and it fits my hands perfectly too.
In terms of a folder, I feel the 525 is pretty close to a perfect EDC, but don't think much of the aluminum handle scales.
The 581 is pretty darn perfect as a large EDC, as is the Gold Class Griptilian.
The 530-111 is perfect as a fancy gents knife.0 -
I don't know If there is a perfect Benchmade. I would back Po up by saying my M4 525 is on the top of the list for blade utility, and my 525 hybrid with the 525BK-701 scales and stock 154cm blade matches it but is a better carry with the smoother scales. 0 -
I know....
a 710 in M2 with standoffs and CF scales!
Wait......I know, I know...
How about a 710 in M390 with standoffs, mirrored liners and Bone Linen G10 scales.
Yea that's it.
Wait....No,no,no, no......I know, I know..
It's a 710 in M4 with standoffs and Blue Twill scales....Aaahh that works!
Wait...I know....how about an M4 Ritter with standoffs and CF scales?!
Aaww I can decide?!
A 525 in M4 with standoffs and Dark Brown canvas micarta scales?
Hey? Is this a trick question?0 -

This makes me feel better...I'm just as confused so long as it's a 710.

943 best all around edc 0 -
I keep on coming into this thread with the intention of stating what I think is the best all around Benchmade.... I still can't decide though! there are too many different ones that are just so good. I think I'd probably go with a full sized M4 Ritter grip with some nice aftermarket g10 scales. 0 -
In addition to the many excellent models already mentioned I would add one more which I think is the best gentleman's folder: 480-1, the shoki, in carbon fiber. 0 -
My Mini-Grip w/M390 Blade! 0 -
How about a 943 w/Carbon Fiber Scales w/M390 Blade and Blue Anodized Back Spacer? 0 -
The second Benchmade I have ever purchased and still have.
710 M2
This has the most beautiful lines, is totally rock solid and most scary sharp Benchmade I have ever owned.
The 710 M2 steel is easier to sharpen than the Ritter M4 I had and gave away as a present. I sold the two 710 M4's I had and have kept the M2. Never cared for the 710 M4's.
The 710 M2 however... is a keeper!

All joking aside and M2 being my favorite steel.
I must agree with you Climb14er.
My favorite is my 710HS-LSCF.
Although, I do have room in my knife tray for the M4 and M390 versions too.
The M2 is still my favorite.0 -
Agreed. I was lucky to score an 835HS lightly used. It's not the FRN handles or being a lock back, it's that high flat ground M2 blade. The thing is an AMAZING slicer and easy to touchup! 0
