Prestigedges - Knives To Use.
As a resident of Her Majesty's little island, I am in the unfortunate position of not being able to get the full enjoyment from my knife collection as carrying here is generally not socially acceptable. As such, my much loved cutlery is condemned to only be taken out around the house and on camping/hiking trips.
It occurred to me that I am missing a trick here. Benchmade's line of kitchen knives... with those I could have the joy of ownership and be able to give them a life of good use.
Has anyone got any of these? What do you think of them? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Dave.

Don't hesitate! I bought the gold class a while back and though I don't use them constantly, I use them as often as possible. They're comfortable, easy to keep sharp and above all, makes you feel good with every cut the only issue I had with them was the first and second use, with wet hands, a little of the rose color on the handles wore off onto my hands, freaked me out until I realized what it was. Only happened at the beginning though. I like them enough that I'm searching for the apparently hard to find, matching steak knife set and plan on buying a set of the newer cheaper priced style with the g10 handles!

I agree! I got both prestigedges sets, the steak set and the chef set, I was lucky enough to get them both in winewood handles, they are awesome! I use them every chance I get in the kitchen, I have had them almost a year and they have held up very good, I haven't even had to sharpen them yet. I cannot speak for the G10 handles but BM quality usually is top notch! 0 -

Forget what society and man made laws tell you, *especially* in regard to what kind of knife you can/can't carry.. As long as you don't show everyone what you have, no one will ask! Life is too short to limit the things you love!
Also, +1 on what they said, those knives are beautiful, I've had my set for about 6 months and use them when ever I get a chance! Make sure you instruct your wife/girlfriend not to f*#% them up though.. I caught my gf almost putting one into the dishwasher the other week.. Almost had a panic attack haha

Those are some excellent recommendations. I'm genuinely shocked that the edge holds so well. I get so frustrated with having to continually sharpen my current set, I think the Benchmades would pay for themselves simply on the time I save at the stone
Seriously though, I'm going to give it some real consideration. The winewood versions are very attractive, but I hadn't given any thought to the G10. I'll look into it.
Thanks guys.0 -
By the way, if you're concerned about which to chose from, wine wood or g10, the difference is just that. A rep from Benchmade told me they are the exact same blade, just different handle material! 0 -
Oh that's good to know, looking at it I had hoped that was the case.

Haha! Sacrilege. This is something that bothers me though, will I come home to find they've had the bevel ruined or been used to remove grout from between the tiles. I think I would cry.0 -

Since then, I've kept two wusthof pairing knives along with a 6" in our utensil drawer so she automatically reaches for those.. It also helps if you tell them that the Wusthof are better/sharper so they use them instead..
If that doesn't work, desperate times call for desperate measures.. Her beloved heels will become the dogs best friend!
