Lackluster new models
Anyone know if Benchmade is actually going to start putting out some models that we can get excited about? The last time I thought they actually had someting exciting was the Lum Tanto Titanium. I'm tired of year after year new models are just tweeked old models. How about some collaborations? How about something besides "HUNT" or whatever else boring is coming out.

Agreed I'm waiting for the Skywalker mini
light-saber tanto blade that is legal to carry in NYC. Meanwhile I do applaud Benchmade as it continues to refresh the product with use of best materials presently known to man. ET phone Les he is ready to collaborate. Regards to all. Bill0 -
Thanks for the reply. Yeah how about a slip joint that is legal in UK? A sub 2" for some jurisdictions would be nice. Something fully serrated maybe? Some TI liner locks? A Strider collaboration? Some colored G10? Just venting but I'm sure someone else has to feel my pain. 0 -
Old model or not the 940-1 was epic.
The 531 with colored g10 was great too.0 -
S-fan you may find joy chasing ugly spiders instead of beautiful butterflies. To each his own. Regards Bill 0 -
I love the new North Fork. I have the colored g-10 model and it's great. 0 -

hehe, agreed
While not every BMK is a wild and wierd design (and thank goodness they are not), each and every one is a solid design that will give decades (this I know for fact, most of my favorite knife designs are over 10 years old and still are great daily use knives...) of reliable service.
Sure, some models evoke more emotion than others, but than does not mean they are any less of a great 'using' knife.0 -
Agreed I am a S fan but I am also a Benchmade fan. I am a fan of knives. There are states here in the United States that restrict not only blade sizes but will not allow a knife that "locks" in the open position. New York, Chicago, and others. Hence the slip joint. Spyderco did not invent that name, it is a knife term. Those are buyers that Benchmade does not offer a product for. The 800 AFCK offered a fully serrated blade and there were a few other models. If you use them you dont have a choice with Benchmade. As a hunter I can tell you the "HUNT" models offer limited use. 0 -

Yes, not a current model, but still readily available.0 -
Slight upgrades seem to be all that is coming out recently (940-1 / Ritter Grips getting M390 / 710-1401 / 950 orange & black S30V Rift).
What I really want to see are some more flipper knives that aren't as bulky as the 300 Ball Axis. I didn't like the feel of that one in hand. If BM would create some small and medium thin & pocketable flippers I think they would do very well. There is very little out there in the 3" flipper (think 3" XM-18) and still not enough in the 3.5" flipper (the new ZT 0562 leads the pack right now).0 -
In your dreams. but they could sure do a better job on fit and finish than you do.

Dingo, I AM a member of most of the knife forums, paid and free and I follow and have followed your antics since 2007. I read your posts here before deletion today and I believe you owe Lord Jim one of your now infamous transparent apologies. Jim is spot on and you are so in love with yourself and cannot take criticism it continues to cloud your judgement.
Back on topic, I like the contego though its been out a while now and there are still several autos that I love the design of. The Killian 172 is also very intriguing but its not likely something I would buy as I have lots of regular axes.0 -
Yeah, lightning saw some of the new models, but he is sworn to secrecy until release. (Jason confirmed this.)
sigh....
I guess we gotta wait....0 -
I want to see a few more fixed blades. With Shane Sibert on the makers list I am surprised there are not more of his designed fixed blades.
Id also like to see a true flipper. Maybe get with lambert or Williams and make it happen.0
