I dont know man, looks pretty sexy to me.

When I stare at the CF's...I can hear Barry White...just faintly, in my head.

    Well done DOAT,

    Great work DOAT!

Gonna give BM a run for their money... Somebody might be wishing they had come out with a G10 handled 940 last year?

Can I ask why the CF is such a pain in the butt?

It comes with some kind of clear coating on both sides. Usually cf comes with a raw side. So I have to face mill a few thousands off one side... however with the thinness there's no way to just put it in the mill vice, so I have to drill holes to put it on my fixture, then counter bore the holes to sink the screw heads below the surface so I can face mill it... then sand it... then I can start actually making it into scales. Its just a lot of tool changes and screwing and unscrewing from the fixture... which could all be avoided if it came with a raw side like every other piece of cf.

If I don't like the carbon fiber on the new 940-1, I'll definitely be looking to get some g10, those look great!

Come on you know you need some G10 to refresh that old S30V version you probably have sitting around.

Hey DoAT, very nice work. I love the blue and CF.

Have you worked with AL or thought about it? Specifically for the 940's.

Well, I've been thinking more about titanium than aluminum. I don't think I would have any issues with aluminum... it's just that most people are trying to get away from it.

With titanium I need to work out some details. Research some speeds and feeds a bit... do some math... put my coolant system together and test all that... see how much of a mess that will make, etc

That tan gray set look awesome with the black blade. I just made this white set for someone, I bet this would also look great with black.

If I may ask, what is it about the 940-1 CF you don't like and what makes you like this version of CF scales more? Do either of them compare to the CF laminate that Spyderco uses on the Chaparral or Sage-1?

He said if he doesn't like the 940-1... I don't think he's held one yet. Also I'm fairly certain the 940-1 is made out of the exact same CF I'm using.

Also the sage-1 is just a thin layer of carbon fiber laminated over G10. So on a 940... you're going to be cutting down into G10 on the sides and around the edges... only be carbon fiber where it's flat. I think I know where I can get some of that though, also stuff similar to what they use on the domino.

I think the solid LVA cf I use is the best though. I know it's what kershaw uses on knives like the 0777, and it looks and feels just like what benchmade uses.

It's good to hear that you are using a CF similar to Benchmade's. I've had several CF handles by other manufacturers that just didn't measure up, but Benchmade's CF has always been great for me. Just pick up one of your 950 Forum knives...that's great CF.
    Cool

Thanks. I had read the post too quickly. I appreciate the explanation of the CF.

DOAT filling a niche, Benchmade not addressing at this time. I very pleased with the G-10 handles. Will buy more in future it allows variety while still having a 94x in your pocket. Regards to all Bill
