Are we officially into the pre-SHOT doldrums?

I know, there has been a couple 300 versions, and the 7505s shipping, but it still seems like a quiet time for new models. I am starting to officially look forward to SHOT.

So, what are you hoping to see in the new year?

I'm hoping for a manual version of the 7505, and also my appetite for Shane Sibert fixed blades is not slaked by the Adamas and Bushcrafter.

Seems like Warren Osborne is due too!

For years I have turned up my nose at large folders saying, eh, if I want to carry something that big I'll carry a fixed blade. But lately, I've been kinda yearning for something really...big. I will be keeping an eye out for a 741 Onslaught in the aftermarket, but I'm yearning for something even bigger, 4.5 - 5 ".

How bout you?

Interesting thread, Po. Don't you sometimes wish you were a fly on the wall at Benchmade? What I mean is, if Shot Show is in January, Benchmade is probably already underway designing and building their Shot Show Special release. What they come up with is always a surprise to me.

I don't know if I could go quite as large as your 4.5" to 5" blade wish. Remember, Even an 810 Contego is only a 4" blade and the mighty 630's blade only measures 4.3" and it's been known to cause old ladies to flea in panic at just the sight of it.

Sorry, Kirby...I doubt it will be a Ritter. This show is a chance for Benchmade to infuse 750 knives into the market with their name on them. I doubt they'd do one bearing another name...especially since the Ritters are sold through only specific dealers and the Shot Show Special will sell through all Benchmade dealers.

Oh, I didn't mean Ritters at SHOT. I just want them to release some next year.

A folder over 4" is a different animal for sure...I have seen such animals though, and I have lately been in the mood for one again.

What I wouldn't give to hack my way into some production meeting in Oregon City right now...

I would like to see an LE 53. Some super steel, maybe some titanium or carbon fiber... maybe both. As far as I know there's never been an LE of the 53... I think it's time.

G10 940 is up there on the list too... hopefully with some supersteel.

Since they've been bringing back old models for little runs too lately, I'd love to see more of those. I think that's one of the cooler things they've been doing lately.

I doubt it will happen, but a new single side blade OTF, single action or dual action would be awesome. And i wish they would do a new Bali. Something that is at least in the same league as the 51 and the 42.

The talk of balisongs is interesting...there has been a lot of talk of a return of the custom balisong shop with no new knives so far. I'm sure we will see some results of that in 2014!

Find a dealer to buy them for you, or come up with some semi-creditable association with the shooting/outdoor industry. For example, I got a ticket once with an endorsement from a major on-line knife dealer I was writing reviews for.

I would like to see flipper Axis with sleeker blade, lighter weight and longer than 3" closed than BM 300.

I'd like to see a bigger 300.
And a mini-Adamas.
Perhaps an AXIS hawkbill or karambit.

And a break from the Ares for a couple years. 6 new models in the past two years is a lot.

Also... 94X in M390? How about 950 with M390 instead of Mini Contego?
