770-mod or not
OK folks, give me your expert advice,, I have a 770se, should I modify the scales or no, I want to refinish the cf to a satin finish instead of gloss and that's if I am smart enough to disassemble and reinstall all the parts,,I have never worked on an axis lock at all...thanks much. Alan.

Taking apart an axis lock is a piece of cake. My advise is to go slow, get something to put the parts in, and take pictures just in case you forget how something goes back. As for the carbon fiber, I haven't a clue .

there are some good disassembly videos on youtube if you can get it working... Keyman or DOAT would be good people to ask about the CF. 0 -
I'd go for it. They look a lot better in satin. The newest version of that knife they made before it was discontinued was actually all 3d machined and satin finish anyway.

I went through a bunch of trades and searching around to swap my flat glossy one fore the curvy satin one... in hindsight I probably could have done it myself with a dremel and some sand paper.0 -
I've got a 770S as well. It's always had problems with the clip loosening, even with Loctite. Has anyone else experienced that? 0 -
Thanks, everyone, for the heads-up, I think I can handle the re-do of the scales, its the re-assembly that worries me, but I probably will give it a shot sooner or later..oh, great pics by the way, DOT. l][/IMG] 0
